    Therefore it's like this:

Italy = US >>>> Everyone else in Soccer.
    That's a good one...

I wonder what was said between the two. It's not everyday you see Zizou ram someone with his bald head.

I'm starting to think that the reputation of american people is real. You can't think by yourself..are u all from utah or what? one of the greateast and most appreciated soccer player in the world had the sadest end of carrier you can imagine and all u can say is "wtf this punk deserve it, what a gansta...???" .

In France (and for a large part in europe) not a single person critizise him after this red card. Not after the terrific mondial he had made. before that "mistake" he had the lead to be named "MVP OF THE MONDIAL". In France he's by far the most popular person. The country see him as a god. Most of all, he wanted to finish his carrier with the trophy, in homage of the person who discovered him and give him his chance to become professional, who passed away just before the world cup.

in all the games he played he received a lot of "special treatments" (as ginobili when facing the nuggets for example..) , he gets hurts a lot by others players who can't stop him. and if u watched the same game than me (??) u can saw that it happen again in this game, he was hurt and he even ask to the coach to be replace by another player. Then a guy who know how sensitive zidane can be provocate him.
Imagine if someone insult Duncan familly in his back during a match 7 of the finals? and then Duncan hit the guy because of that. wouldnt u understand? it's human no??

You do realize that half the people trashing Zidane in this thread aren't even American right?

This board has lots of international posters...we're like the UN(without the corruption).

I myself am an American and justifed Zidane's actions in the name of needing to take a piss.

    So there.

Besides...I have a feeling he's going to get it much worse in France than he is anywhere else.

drawing a red card for a cheap shot in ot of a tie championship game is incredibly stupid. defending him, even moreso.

and of course this is thinking for yourself? I didn't read anyone calling him a punk.... what he did was tragic and sad but obviously something was said to provoke him which is even sadder. Relax and pay attention

I'm calling him a punk. That was, by far, the dumbest thing I've seen anyone do in a Championship game. Ever.

I called him a punk and stand by it. Maybe you need a person that's not a long time soccer fan to call it for what it was...a stupid and moronic thing to do. I don't care what he's done in the past, he was a PUNK for doing that in that situation. He not only let his entire nation down but, more importantly, he let down his teammates. And the game being played nor my nationality (I'm american) has nothing to do with it. If Michael Jordan (my favorite player of all time) had done something similar in a game 7 of a championship series I'd have called him a friggin punk for doing it and he wouldn't have even been playing for his NATION. I have a hard time believing the French people are going to give him a pass on this and not heavily critique him.

I don't understand why they can't just admit that he made one of the biggest ups in the history of championship sports. Trying to justify is ing re ed.

He is a great player but that makes it worse, not better.

His brilliant career is not because he is a punk. He definately did a "punk" play. thats a fair word to use. whoever this one hit poster was just does not understand the dialect or words chosen to explain his behavior.
Zidane is not God, thats like Rooney racking the Portugese player in the nuts and now English people think thats why England lost. It was not the sole reason. What Zidane did was a crazy but life goes on.
    The better team won.

Zidane is (was) a great player, but he was always dirty and often did stupid and out of control things like that. I don't think anybody should be surprised, it's not like he became a new man suddenly or something.

At least you got the Champion part right...

For some reason, I think Cannavaro, Buffon, etc. will do just fine landing their next contracts...
