I played soccer thru HS, but the World Cup is nothing but a flop-fest where pussies can showcase their skills...glad it's over!! The international game is crap...
Although I do get a good laugh out of the whole flop, stretcher, magic spray (I think it's the bowling shoe spray!

That much is true. Materazzi is one of the worst s bags on a team full of s bags. And, if some of the rumors are true, he had it coming regardless of his being a dirty thug. It's just unfortunate that Zidane's arm was ed up enough that he couldn't throw a proper punch.
Since France was doomed in any case going into PKs, Zidane's action probably had little effect on the outcome of the game. If you can't go out on top, you may as well go out with a bang.
I had read & heard that the players weren't involved in that scandal. That it was the coaches/mgmt that are under investigation in that Italian league. I know very little about all of this but I believe that part was pointed out before or after the broadcast yesterday.
I think Zidane was still pissed that Buffon saved that amazing header he had in the first OT. He needed to use that thing on something...
I don't care about the scandal. I was talking about the Italian team's diving and all-around dirty play. Materazzi, in addition to personally being an asshole, is one of the worst offenders in that regard.

Just heard on the news, supposedly the Italian called Zidane a
"dirty terrorist" something to that affect because Zidanes parents are from Algeria. I KNEW it was racially motivated. He should have knocked the asshole out if you ask me.

FIFA had a "NO RACISM" platform and a day singled out for this. The MLS also participated in this. Maybe its not a issue to you but it is to alot of people. I don't think I would like to be called a terrorist. Terrorist have killed so many innocent people and to be associated with a group like that would be pretty disgusting.

Weak. He isn't a kid. I'm sure he's been called worse on the pitch over his illustrious career. He is known to have a mean temper with a short fuse and that's how it played out for him, yet again.
Nothing said on the pitch last night warranted what he did. Only if he was elbowed, taken down(cleats up) deliberately, punched, etc. could I understand it.
