I had an Aggie friend tell me about a week ago Vernon Broughton was gonna end up theirs.
I flippantly dismissed him
To add to this, OrangeBloods spoke with several players today and they felt it was bad news on pretty much everyone.
They think DT Vernon Broughton is leaning A&M and S Bryson Washington is still OU.
However, WR JJ Hester of Tulsa, OK did confirm Texas is still his top school.

I'm confused Tfloss, it was bad news that Bijan was leaning OSU?
Texas needs better bagmen
Rivals isn't right too often now-a-days, lets hope the trend continues. I got bad feeling about Broughton the moment he got involved with FWK.
Not sure if I am answering your question, but Rivals thinks Bijan is leaning Ohio State after speaking with him and other sources at the Five-Star Challenge in Atlanta this morning.
So, yes, it's bad news on Bijan depending on which source you're going with.
Perroni from A&M 24/7 thinks they have him, or at least he feels good enough to submit a crystal ball for the Aggies.
Man! It's been a rough day to be a Longhorn fan and follow recruiting. Maybe the wing eating contest wasn't such a good idea.
My biggest concern with all of this is where Texas goes at RB if this Bijan vibe some people are getting is true and he doesn't end up at Texas. Nahlin and Roach have been steadfast in their comfort level with him and Texas, but i believe there is reason for some concern here. I wouldn't throw the towel in just yet.
Texas will be fine without Ransom, although it does sting.
Broughton- I just have to shake my head at.
Arent days after a big recruiting weekend supposed to be filled with burnt orange sunshine and lollipops? Instead, this program gets some good news followed by a crapload of not so good news. Cant we just have a week with no bad news or negative momentum? Doesnt have to be good news, just nothing negative.
What gets me is every analyst and their mom was talking about how this class could possibly be the best ever at UT. I never understood that. Whatever worked for Herman in year 1 didn’t work that well in year 2 and it’s failing miserably in year 3. We’re not ever going to win DLine recruitments against the aggys or whoever bc Giles is good at eating wings and not good at recruiting. Stan drayton has proven to be a decent coach but also a terrible recruiter.
That dudes getting huge! He was smallest of the epic DB class of last year, he was tiny.
Inside Texas confirmed this evening that RB Jase McClellan made a separate visit to UT in May that went under the radar.
The thing about Dline recruiting at Texas is that we play in the Big 12 and it means we face sophisticated offenses every week. Our defensive linemen have to be guys that can get to the QB not stuff the run. aggsy have to have dlinemen that can stand up to massive offensive linemen and stop smash mouth running games. They have to have guys like Broughton who is going to be a 3 technique in that defense. Somehow they sold him on being a 5 technique, but they won't put him there. they are going to turn him into Dillon Mack. Here at Texas he is a strong side DE much like Ta'Quon Graham. At first I thought that losing him was the biggest loss in this class, but it isn't. Collins has basically become Broughton in that he is about the same size with more athletic ability. If we miss on Broughton and get Collins, then I'm good. Miss on both and then I'm going into panic mode.
I still have faith that this staff and put together a great class. I'm now wondering what is going on in Columbus that they are suddenly getting all this attention. Their mods were giving Texas all these crystal balls and suddenly these same guys are leaning to the Buckeyes?
I have a feeling Big Red Motors has a second location in Columbus Ohio.
DE Van Fillinger (Draper, UT)
I couldn't find any confirmation that he was in Austin this past weekend.

S Lathan Ransom confirmed with The Football Brainiacs that Ohio State is his leader after his official to Columbus.
And what does this mean now?
Good lord...
Even if Bijan commits to UT it’s going to be wondering if and when he flips to USC when they hire their next coach. I think if he picked us over tOSU we could keep him in the fold but I feel like if Urban goes to USC then we can discount any of the west coast kids coming to Texas.
Hopefully we find some under the radar 3star types like Chris Nelson, Lil J, and Connor Williams to fill out the class.
Rivals had a follow up report on DT Vernon Broughton and he mentioned his scheme preference is a 4-3 where can play DE, as opposed to a 3-4 which is what Texas runs.
Inside Texas mentioned A&M did a very good job of convincing him that he's best suited for 4-3 DE even though Broughton has already said himself he's destined to be an interior guy.
Based on this specific report, Texas could now be running third behind A&M and Ohio State.
I'll add if Broughton thinks he is a 4-3 DE, I got some ocean front property in Nebraska. That's one of a sale job by the Aggs.
QB Malik Hornsby de-commits from North Carolina.
Good week for jimbo and aggy
Wow, we might strike out all around in Arizona, that just blows my mind.
As for Broughton, doesn't he realize that most NFL teams are running some version of the 3-4. If he really wants to be a DE Texas is the place for him. I guarantee he is a 3 technique in collieville. Here he is a 5 technique just like TaQuon Graham. How can he not see that? He might grow into a 3 tech while here but he will never grow into a zero technique, he doesn't have the build. The best 0 tech are guys who are a bit shorter around 5'11 to 6'2 and weigh more than 300+, usually around 330. Like I said, if we get Collins, I'm satisfied because he has grown into the same size as Broughton but he is a better athlete.
Hopefully Ransom, and Broughton will slow their process and let the visits ware off so they can make a emotion free decision based on the facts. This is especially true of Ransom who has said every school he visited was his leader at one point. He and his parents should sit down and make a smart decision based on facts not the emotion of the visit.
As for Broughton, he is about to tie his quarter horse to a plow, if he picks aggsy he will spend the next 3 years wondering what it's like to win a conference or play in a good bowl game.
