Well I'm sure this worked out exactly as EN had hoped. I'll make doubly certain I still don't buy a newspaper despite its array of advantages over the internet.
Anyways, in a merely hypothetical something I heard someone say once, there's something called acquiescence. Acquiescence basically says that if someone is on notice of a right of theirs being infringed upon but doesn't do anything about it, they lose that right. They are said to have consented.
When they do decide to bring a claim, they can enforce that claim, but only for the time going forward.

EN does serve a purpose.
It's not about protecting intellectual property. They just want you to click through to the E-N website to read the article so they get the advertising revenue.I thought the articles were always linked and credit was given, but apparently anything over two sentences is going over the "intellectual property" line? That's horse since most of those articles take a good 5-6 sentences to get the point across.

If this is so then maybe an investigation of EN will be warranted to show how orginal material from this site miraculously appears in EN articles. Then we can follow with a class action lawsuit for all of Spurstalk posters. This can escalate and could provide quite a bit of press for those who are suppose to be in the business of reporting the news not making the news.

It should be the policy here to only quote a paragraph or two from an article with a link to the rest. Otherwise, it is copyright infringement, and it doesn't matter how you think about the quality of the EN or wherever the article comes from.
The two sentence limit is BS, but there is no clear rule for when a quotation is a fair use or not.
BTW, the copyright law is a total mess. If you quote this whole post, have you violated my copyright? Maybe you'll just have to wait until 70 years after I die.
