Doug Schoen: Reassessing my support for Hillary Clinton
A reach, no? A pollster and a Fox contributor. I rest my case.
The Very Political James Comey
The FBI director says he doesn’t "give a hoot” about politics. But when it comes to Clinton and her emails, he’s made a series of political decisions that have jeopardized the integrity of the FBI—and the U.S. election process.
these letters give the lie to Comey’s repeated insistence that the FBI is above politics, exposing that notion as both irrelevant—because, whatever his motivations, Comey’s actions have placed the FBI at center stage during the presidential campaign’s climactic moment—and absurd, because the director has, in fact, repeatedly bowed to political pressures arising from the Clinton investigation.
Since July, by repeatedly caving to political pressures as he sought to resolve an investigation that has now been grievously compromised by his own public statements, the director has led the bureau into its most politically perilous chapter in generations—with the presidential campaign hanging in the balance. It’s a crisis that’s unprecedented in FBI history—and the endgame, with just over a week until Election Day, is anything but clear.
addressed to the Republican chairmen of eight congressional committees, Comey dropped a bombs that shook the presidential race.
In defiance of longstanding tradition, Justice Department policy and an explicit warning from the department’s senior leadership, the director informed Congress that the FBI would be taking “appropriate investigative steps” to review “emails that appear to be pertinent” to its probe into Hillary Clinton’s email practices—a probe that Comey himself had very publicly laid to rest more than three months earlier.
Comey’s rambling statement—which veered at times into speculation and would have been assailed as prejudicial,
this line of reasoning—that the rules do not apply in cases like Clinton’s, and that
the need for “extraordinary transparency,” as defined by the FBI director, outweighs the rights of a person under investigation—
is that every successive disclosure sets an unfortunate precedent (or at least a public expectation), and every new exemption leads to another.
Comey will devise a way to respond to this spiraling political furor, further bending the rules toward “extraordinary transparency” in hopes of clarifying at least some of the ambiguities introduced in his letters. Unfortunately, though,
the damage has likely been done. The headline itself has become the indictment; the underlying facts matter hardly at all.

The Repugs KNOW they can't win legitimately, so they force Comey into compromising the FBI
I wish there was a way to actually quantify the complete ridiculousness of these candidates. An unserious "billionaire" who barely comprehends the Cons ution and insults or attacks everyone who doesn't meet his standard of white male "excellence;" and a hubristic politician who had the red carpet rolled out for her but can't get out of her own way.
so you inhale deeply the Repug smoke machine?
Hillary is not "good", but she is certainly not as horrible, disastrous as Trash, Repugs, Comey slime her.

The real bombs in Harry Reid's letter
Highlighting it here because
- It suggests there is specific information in FBI possession, not just vague innuendo and su ion linking Trump to Putin.
- Since this specific information is at least several months old, it is more than likely that ongoing followups have added to that trove of information.
- Note a separate full sentence “There is no danger to American interests from releasing it”, further cementing the idea that the information is specific.
- If Reid has it, so do all the other Republican Senators and at least some House members, making them complicit in their endorsement of Trump. No longer can they hide behind the idea that they support him just as “the party nominee”.
- Everyone would recall FBI has specifically refused to comment or even confirm if they are even investigating Trump’s Russia connection.
So the FBI double standard in keeping on going after Clinton is laid very bare and helps undermine the credibility and legitimacy of the entire Clinton Email scandal which has just been blown out of all reasonable proportion.

Reagan rolling in his grave at his party working with the Russians
I don't believe that I called her those things. I'm quite sure what I said was that is she hadn't bumbled through some of this stuff, she would have waltzed to the White House.
You should read things more carefully instead of just assuming that anyone who doesn't completely toe your line is your political opponent.
St Ronnie's team made a deal with the Iranians to hold the hostages until after the 1980 election, to deny Carter any credit if they were released before the election.
The "deal"? St Ronnie's administration would not retaliate for the Iranians' act of war on US sovereign territory.
"I don't believe that I called her those things."
I didn't say you did, "you should read things more carefully"
"she would have waltzed to the White House."
nope, not with the Repugs' smoke, slime, slander machine these past 25 years, no Dem could waltz, and any Dem would be trashed, witch hunted non-stop in office.
the Repugs to .
Even that machine was having a hard time justifying Trump. Hillary's stupidity has allowed this to be a close race; even with her bad choices in the past, the race was nearing a blowout as recently as a week ago. Trump was the perfect fool to just keep the news cycle going on anything negative about him, no matter what his surrogates might say.
While I doubt that there's any real fire with this turn of events, if she loses this race, she has only her past bad judgment to blame for it in my view.
Ok-ish.
No and no.
mouse seems to have dropped off the spurstalk planet though.
White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest: "The President doesn’t believe Director Comey is trying to influence the outcome of an election." Also calls him "man of integrity".
So now you believe the White House, eh? What next ... Let me guess, you knew/believed all along that Obama was born in the US, and that his DoJ has behaved impartially all along?
Harry Reid has a much credibility as Reck. Reid pulled this same with Romney and his taxes
I'm saying that even obama says it's not a conspiracy, comey is just doing his job. There must really be something there for obama to say this. Hes distancing himself from her
I was correct again. They've had these since the beginning of October. Lol 4chan
But you were cool with Comey when he was working with Hitlery and AG Lynch(ed) and Uncle Tom Obama. LOL, you are the epitome of the laughable, project-what-the-Left-is-doing-to-the-Right-because-I'm-a-heartless-disgusting-LOLiber -and-want-a-globalist-who-is-in-bed-with-Big-Corporate-to-be-in-charge LOLiber . And a hypocrite. Just reminding you since self-awareness is like Number 10002 on the list of things you don't know about.
just give up Trump s, Mrs Clinton is winning that
???? you're full of
Comey thought it was too political to say Russians were meddling in election
FBI Director James Comey argued privately that it was too close to Election Day for the United States government to name Russia as meddling in the U.S. election and ultimately ensured that the FBI's name was not on the do ent that the U.S. government put out, a former FBI official tells CNBC. [...]
According to the former official, Comey agreed with the conclusion the intelligence community came to: "A foreign power was trying to undermine the election. He believed it to be true, but was against putting it out before the election." Comey's position, this official said, was "if it is said, it shouldn't come from the FBI, which as you'll recall it did not."
So … “we have concluded that another country is for sure trying to influence our election” isn’t suitable for public consumption, but “there may be some emails, we’re not really sure” is something to release immediately?
That does not make Comey look like the principled straight shooter he keeps getting credit for being.
And it gives new credence to Harry Reid’s letter charging Comey with covering up evidence of a connection between the Russian government and Donald Trump.

Good Lord Boutons, The Daily Kos as the authority on a post. I thought you had outgrown that kinda thing. But obviously you haven't. Now crawl back under your rock and we will call you while they are swearing in Trump......
XZ, have you changed your Alzheimer's drugs? you're more eloquent than usual.
but just as wrong.
FBI/Comey informed the Senate months ago about Trash's, Manafort's relationships with Russia, but we hear nothing but Comey going after Hillary, while refusing to say anything about Trash and Russia.
If Reid has the that info, he should divulge it.
