I don't know about his role in spurs culture, but it's clear that he didn't play well till now and, more than all, that he's just a complementary player. His desire to start for some team, that he expressed in last off season, is a clear sign that he's not got over himself...he simply doesn't have and will never have the skills to be a starting point guard for any nba team. Too bad on defense (just decent one on one defense, but a little screen and he's dead; and once he his on a match up with some shooting guard, he's dead the same 'cause he's njust too small); streaky on offense, where he can shine only when he's at 100 % of his phisical condition, otherwise becomes too slow and lose any advantage
