Surely there's a pe ion making the rounds in San Antonio by now? This contract is a slap in the face to all spur fans.

I don't know about his role in spurs culture, but it's clear that he didn't play well till now and, more than all, that he's just a complementary player. His desire to start for some team, that he expressed in last off season, is a clear sign that he's not got over himself...he simply doesn't have and will never have the skills to be a starting point guard for any nba team. Too bad on defense (just decent one on one defense, but a little screen and he's dead; and once he his on a match up with some shooting guard, he's dead the same 'cause he's njust too small); streaky on offense, where he can shine only when he's at 100 % of his phisical condition, otherwise becomes too slow and lose any advantage

Why do people continue to put this all on Buford? Pop is just as responsible for this deal.

They both should be held accountable for this garbage but instead we have Jeff McDonald fellating the front office while the team burns.

True, tbh. As fun as it is to make fun of Drunkford's goofy ass, he really is just a yes man whose job is to simply answer the phones.

it would be good to dump the Mills and Gasol contracts and bring two real players

How did they not salary dump this POS at the deadline? I would have easily thrown in this year's first to get out of the deal.

Because everyone is content with hanging out with their friends off the court to care about what happens on it.

I think the key to everything is simple. Patty needs to cut his hair off. Ever since he got the hipster do his game has gone to and Kawhi is hurt. He needs to cut his hair again at Rios haircuts.

I don't think one first was enough, or will be enough next year.

Too much money and firsts have gotten so valuable.

He's an aging, fat, one dimensional undersized player who is overrated in his one dimension in a league flush with point guards.

A single pick might do it after the 18/19 year is over.

What you are saying does not make sense. If first have gotten “so valuable” then it stands to reason they could dump Mills with that valuable asset attached.

Most likely was they wanted to dump Mills and didn’t want to move a first to do so. They can dump him for a first in the off season so no need to do so unless you have to.

Also, they know he can be dumped for their current first round pick and expected draft slot (25+). If something unforseen happens and they fall record wise the pick becomes more valuable. So no need to trade it or Mills now.

But yes, if SA could salary dump Mills for a first round pick, they should in the off season assuming they can get a FA to commit. Or even if it’s just shifting his money over to Danny freeing up time for White/Murray that would be big (even Forbes).

The key will be does Manu retire? What about TP and his situation? Spurs will be over the cap regardless unless they do several trades and/or both Rudy/Danny opt out and are renounced which will be difficult. So it’s not like losing TP/Manu would open up more money next year. It would be losing all 3 of Mills/TP/Manu and only having the MLE to improve all around (other than via trade). It’s complicated.

Dumping Mills would be addition by subtraction at this point tbh, even with him being a good locker room presence. Pop has shown he's going to play him regardless of cir stances and to the detriment of the team.

The big things for cap space will be Pau/Mills/TP/Rudy/Danny

If SA can somehow trade Pau/Mills without taking salary back and TP signs quickly for a small deal (like 3M per year), SA can have Rudy/Danny opt in and still be at around 85M in salaries.

If SA can trade Mills/Pau for no salary back and Rudy/Danny opt out and are renounced (and TP again takes around 3M), SA would be at about 67M in salaries.

    TP taking 3 mill.
Lou Williams got 8M. I am not saying TP will settle for that much less, especially if a team is willing offer him Lou Williams money or more (like PHI did with Manu). But we will see.

Lol to move Fatty and Paul's awful contracts for EXPIRINGS are gonna take more 1st rounders than Spur have that's for sure.

Lot’s of variables and won’t be easy for sure. Moving one of them with a first can be done; I am pretty confident of that. Jordan Clarkson is not much better and LA got a first round pick for him.

They are different overall players and Clarkson is younger, but he does not grade out better than Mills for overall impact. Certainly not better by the difference in getting vs giving a first

Boss Patty got his payday @ 12:01
i guess i cant knock Green for getting his money also.

    Spurs culture
    - No OG's
    - keep it as light skinned as possible.
    - veteran & role player friendly destination
    - Holt is a cheapskate compared to pretty much every other small market owner.

only gots pump up culture, tbh. 6 le bulls had MJ punching teammates and half the roster jealous of how much their teammates were making. Lakers threepeated while Kobe and Shaq hated each other. LeKing is in every finals this decade despite a lockeroom run like a girls middle school.

built not bought zero WCF wins without Tim
