Some will. Plenty of people will hear "socialist" coming from the Cruz campaign and be scared into voting for Cruz. But at some point people are going to notice their wages haven't gone up despite the promises and tax cuts from the Republicans who currently control the government and they're going to be persuaded to try something different. Generally the conservatives who have listened to Beto and attended his rallies don't find his platform to be a harbinger of the scary socialist scape that conservative propagandists have been warning about.
Sorry. I live in Pa now, don't see any ads. I got my "next big liberal" confused with the one from Florida. I thought Beto was specifically calling for Single Payor, free college and $15 minimum wage. My bad. Still probably won't win, but reading his platform I can see that he has a puncher's chance (especially since Cruz is such a prick).

Red TX knows prick Cruz is their tribe's man.

Repug voters have been voting tribal, been voting against their best financial interests for decades.

Cruz plays as, appeals to the Christian warrior/martyr .

It would be UN Christian for stupid Christians to vote against a so-called Christian. They don't really care the the bills he votes for screw them.

New Ted Cruz ad suggests Beto O’Rourke ‘grateful’ for flag burning. There’s just one problem.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) must really be feeling the heat in Texas because he’s resorted to flat out lying about his opponent, state Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D).

In a new ad, Cruz tries to claim that O’Rourke is “grateful” that people burn the American flag.

That couldn’t be further from what O’Rourke actually said.

The new 30-second spot, published on Ted Cruz’s Facebook page, is so heavily edited it’s laughable.

It shows a voter asking a question about flag desecration, then jumps to O’Rourke responding,

“I think that there is something inherently American about that, and so I’m grateful that people are willing to do that.”

To get that edit, the Cruz campaign had to cut nearly four minutes of O’Rourke speaking, as well as the full context of the question asked.

he audience member then mentions a Supreme Court case related to burning the American flag, and says he’s not sure how he would feel if his elected representative knelt on the floor or “supported acts that desecrate our American flag.”

In the four minute response cut out of Cruz’s new ad, O’Rourke clarifies that his view is there is nothing more American than people taking action to stand up for their rights. He praised the troops, as well as activists like the Freedom Riders, Rosa Parks, those who were spat upon at lunch counters, and those who gave their lives to achieve racial equality.

“They did all of that to stand up for the equal treatment under law of everyone,” he said. “People have been willing to nonviolently and peacefully protest to seek political solutions to otherwise intractable problems.”

He went on to note that unarmed black men continue to be unjustly killed, and there is often not accountability.

“[When] someone is willing to call attention to that, to try to awaken our conscience, to force us to do the right thing in the face of that injustice and violence and to do so peacefully and nonviolently,

I think that there is something inherently American about that, and so I’m grateful that people are willing to do that.”

Repugs scared they can't win legit, so they ALWAYS go with Dirty Tricks (eg, Ailes, Stone, A er, etc)

Beto O’Rourke campaign: ‘Impostor’ responsible for texts about helping undo ented immigrants vote

an “impostor” was behind a text message that surfaced Wednesday asking voters to help people who are in the country illegally cast ballots.

“Hi, it’s Patsy here w/ Beto for Texas,”

reads the text, which was circulating on social media.

“Our records indicate that you’re a supporter.

We are in search of volunteers to help transport undo ented immigrants to polling booths so that they will be able vote.

Would you be able to support this grassroots effort?”

Another apparently unauthorized text shared with the Tribune also said it was from “Patsy” and told readers that

the campaign is “conducting an internal poll and would like to know your thoughts on the dangers of socialism.”

Republican U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, said it had nothing to do with the texts.

“We don’t condone anyone who would engage in such action.” You're Repugs, Dirty Tricks, fraud, cheating are in your blood

SO, what opposing candidate would help Texas financially? Texas is at 4% unemployment. The lowest is at 3.9% (2017) while the highest has been at 9.2% (1986) when Lloyd Bentsen (D) was in office.

Not to say that Cruz has already lost the tofu battle, but Texas already has
over 20 Whole Foods throughout the state.

Who would have beaten him in the primary? GOP voters love unlikeable s. That's why he and Trump were #2 and #1 in the presidential primary.

He had a primary opponent that was actually endorsed by several TX papers. Unfortunately no one reads newspapers anymore, and the guy didn't get much publicity. I don't even remember his name.

How about one that doesn't throw a hissy fit and shut down the government?

His Senate colleagues hate his ass too.

Burning bridges, even in your own party means that when you want a bill passed that benefits yours state... your political capital account is overdrawn.

Saying stuff like nobody likes Ted Cruz---as true as that may be will just incense texans into voting for him to spite the libs!

I think it works, sort of a subtle neurolinguistic programming. People remember the first thing they see, and their memory persists, even when they know something to be false.

    Get it in early.

I still remember that Hillary commercial that had kids watching tv and Trump cursing on it. It backfired badly

Except that Cruz has been a virtual rubber stamp to unpopular Trump policies...we could send a monkey to do the same job for Texas that Cruz has done..

Then the dude should try to not come off like a charity case. Why is he more worthy of respect than someone who went in and didn't get maimed? Doesn't make sense. Does make sense to feel pity though, because unlike the equally worthy of respect soldiers, this guy got hurt. Anyways, he can go right the off. If he went to the military because he thought we'd have to respect him, then he didn't do it for the right reasons and sheds a bad light on folks to sacrifice for others.

NFL players kneeling for the National Anthem is not a legislative issue. Neither Beto nor Cruz is going to ever introduce legislation to compel or allow anthem protests before NFL games, so Cruz's continued exploitive pandering about it is clearly desperate.

What about the Trump quotes. He went quite far against Ted.
