Who "banned" it though? I thought the company with the rights to the books decided to cease publishing them. That's the first amendment right there as well.
a lot of the commnity activism has been astroturfed
the Council for National Policy (CNP) holds many of the strings.

"Police will be present here at school and if students insist on encouraging this kind of activity they will be disciplined for encouraging unrest."
it's time for the 3rd Reconstruction, tbh
tried to start Reconstruction early on this date in 1859

The anti-CRT moral panic savors of McCarthyism, but the end of Reconstruction seems an apropos comparison too.

GOP trigger words
Sound off, 1st Amendment warriors
How do you teach driver's ed without "intersection"?
Bankruptcy and finance without "equity"?
Protip: your kids do not require the safe space, you do.
They're going to hate you anyway. Be yourself, but get out of the way.
https://www.gutenberg.org/files/3600...m#link2HCH0022He that was seen to beat his father, and reproved for so doing, made answer, that it was the custom of their family; that, in like manner, his father had beaten his grandfather, his grandfather his great-grandfather, “And this,” says he, pointing to his son, “when he comes to my age, shall beat me.” And the father, whom the son dragged and hauled along the streets, commanded him to stop at a certain door, for he himself, he said, had dragged his father no farther, that being the utmost limit of the hereditary outrage the sons used to practise upon the fathers in their family.
the precedent. Your sons and daughters will surpass you and good riddance to smelly garbage.

Safe spaces for white kids means banning 850 books or intimidating school officials for tolerating their presence in school libraries. Because having them around might make some kids uncomfortable, and lord knows we can't ever have that.
"your books are now illegal under Texas law"
Krause informs districts they must provide the committee with the number of copies they have of each book, on what part of campus those books are located and how much money schools spent on the books, as well as information on any other book that violates House Bill 3979, the so-called “critical race theory law”designed to limit how race-related subjects are taught in public schools. Critical race theory, the idea that racism is embedded in legal systems and not limited to individuals is an academic discipline taught at the university level. But it has become a common phrase used by conservatives to include anything about race taught or discussed in public secondary schools.
if trying to cancel 850 library books (or the school officials who allow them to remain there) doesn't count as cancel culture, nothing does.
Amazing bible is not banned in schools for putting sexual thoughts into young girls like the sections that talks about young woman wanting men with donkey s and who spewed huge amounts of semen like horses.
Ezk 23:20.

The anti-CRT movement is a broad, feelings-based agenda and so-called CRT is a catchall for whatever is taught in schools that makes Republicans feel uncomfortable. Seeking to include the traditional scapegoats of US history -- women, non-whites, immigrants, poor people and gays -- as social and political equals makes them particularly irate.
Freedom for them is the freedom to dominate certain others legally and socially with impunity; ergo, equality and teaching equality is perceived as a per se threat to their freedom. Given this, it only makes sense that they are now seeking to outlaw teaching any history that reveals US habits of subjugation and oppression.

Sensitive sop res at Oberlin College were never so effective at banning educational content as the Texas lege, tbh.
