I wonder if Pop lives alone. If so, he's lucky the stroke happened at the Frost Bank Center where people could help him right away.
Dave Telep is Vice President of Basketball operations and has been on the staff since 2013 as a scout. He's next man up, probably, if Pop is not able to hold this spot.

Get well Pop.
Still a lot of details unknown-encouraging that he is home, but then again he has resources that would allow him to be at home when others require hospitalization.
Strokes are a lot like real estate- Location, size and why it's for sale (or happened).
There are definitely scenarios where he could be back this year. My gut impression is he will not though it's based on zero data.
glad hes ok but he actually pulled a RBG and prevented us from landing Bud
Good news if just mild stroke. I pray for his full recovery. But I doubt at 78 he’ll try to come back. I’m sure he’d rather spend with his kids and grandkids.
I’m sure there’s already much discussions behind closed doors. The Pop/RC tandem was one for the ages. Mitch/Wright? I agree Mitch gets the interim coach the rest of the year. Imo I think Mitch likes Castle starting. Immediately he got the kid to start in Sochan’s place, where Pop would probably put a 3rd stringer (Mamu) so not to disrupt the 2nd unit. And lately Pop has been very “nice” to vets allowing them time to relocate to other team of their choice, etc. It’s something to watch out towards the end of the season with regards to CP3 and Barnes, etc. It’s going to be interesting how they will continue the “Spurs Culture.”
Like i said before, retire and find that successor
Forgot who said it, but if we want Becky we can't wait the end of the season bc of the WNBA season, it's now (soon) or never.
Imagine how exciting it would be
You Pop haters are finally going to get your wish because I seriously doubt he ever comes back to coach here again; he wouldnt put the team thru that sideshow. Best coach in NBA history and I wish him a speedy recovery. As for next up, the dude doing it now seems ok to me since we lost out on Coach Bud.
The common knowledge with stroke is that one you got one, you are at high risk to develop a new one. It's certainly not up to me to say what he should do, but it certainly would be a lot safer for him to retire.
If he retires, for his succession as a coach, Spurs should let Mitch Johnson do the interim until the end of the season. After that, they should keep him if he has been good or take someone outside of the org.
Hope he has a speedy recovery. But this is a clear sign a change in leadership is now due.
LOL Clear Channel, Fox News, and Sinclair are all left. MSNBC is so left Chris Matthews was on there flipping out saying that a President Sanders would have him executed when Bernie was leading in the 2020 primaries early on. What's this persecution you speak of in universities? That they don't teach creationism? Durr Jesus did it, yeah that'll impress the interviewers and get you a good job after graduation.
the dude is full of . don't waste your time.
Trump for the win 🏆 He really got to old man Pops. Hope he's gone forever and we never hear from him again 👍🏻
Why are you even a Spurs fan if you wish death on the guy that has been the architect of the franchise since the mid 90s?
Praying for Pop! It's going to be interesting to see how the team will react to the news, and going forward, will this matter be an inspiration to the team, or will it depress their momentum? Hopefully, they will have a "Win it For Pop" at ude to inspire them to at least win as many games as possible. Again, pray for Pop, and GSG!!!
Blocked.
I hope you get cancer and we never hear from you again.
I have a vision of pop and victor celebrating another spurs le…pop is there next to vic but not sure in what capacity but there nonetheless…
What are the seven deadly sins?
1. Lust
2. Gluttony
3. Greed
4. Sloth
5. Wrath
6. Envy
7. Pride
Now look at trump and tell how many of those is he fulfilling? So, that's your "christian" candidate, what a f.ing joke.
If there is a God, Pop will probably go to Heaven while your guru will be first on the list for .
Damn I was right about Pop having a stroke and I wish I wasn't... I hope he fully recovers if that's even possible; I have yet to see it in those I have known who endured even a mild stroke.
Get well Pop, stick around the team in some capacity, but hang it up as a head coach already and take some time for yourself, your health, and your family.
Now do the same with HRC, Pelosi, Schumer, Schiff, AOC, and the like... You know the lizards and commies are God-less so...![]()
Good to hear Pop is recovering, but the initial announcement suggested this (stroke) had happened before. I suspect we’ll not see Pop coaching from the bench anymore.
I hope everyone who keeps ruining topic about Pop's health with political nonsense suffers from permanent internet outage.
How are you even a Spurs fan? Coach Pop has as much credit for bringing championship to the Spurs and to the city of San Antonio. So much respect to our old coach Pop.
