I just find it amusing that fans of an organization who has systematically ed, grovelled and whined about officiating for the last 6 or 7 years should chastise fans of other teams for questioning calls in the postseason. Seriously. Shut the up.
Aw good, those stats have me feeling optomistic. The NBA will look at the tapes, see how the refs embarrassed themselves and the league tonight and make a big effort to call the game fairly ( maybe even slightly pro-Spurs) the rest of the way, just like 2003.

My honest opinion (which I believe 1000% to be true) is that the refs truly screwed us in this game and we still may have lost game 2, but they also called a horrible game there as well.
But We came out and played awesome in the 4th quarter.
We played great.
We need to come out like that from the tip in game 4, FROM THE TIP, and play some old fashioned style SPURS DEFENSE, and hoping that refs don't screw us again, we should have it in the bag.

I dont have anything against you people, just offering what is coming to be a very obvious reality. I hate it. I hate writing it. I love basketball, but compe ive basketball. I dont want the Mavs to get jobbed or any other team to get jobbed. But when you look at the games and see what is continuously going on with no reprocussion, then things start to look very su ious. I wish the NBA had a better commissioner with a better marketing plan that actually marketed basketball and not all the FLUFF. Not ENTERTAINMENT - just excellent basketball and excellent officiating creating excellent games. That's not too much to ask for. Hopefully we'll find out in the future why the officials are so bad yet continue to get promoted and retained. If I am wrong, then that is the question that I want answered. WHY ARE THESE HORRIBLE OFFICIALS STILL HERE?? They have been bad for a long time, get rid of them if this league is legit. That's all I want. Fairly called Sports to watch. Why shouldnt all of you demand the same??

Answer the question then:
Why are these refs still retained? It is a proven fact that they do a horrible job. Just look at the tapes of games they have called. It's no coincidence that NBA officials get called out by fans, media, players, owners more than all other sports combined. Why are they still there? That is what I want to know.

That I don't know, SpursGo. I agree with you that the officiating has been horribly inconsistent but it has been that way, IMO, all season long and not just in games involving the Spurs.
I still do not believe that the league is conspiring against the Spurs.

Exactly!!! It has been that way all season and for many seasons past. Why then are these officials retained?? There has to be a reason. The only reason that makes sense is because they are doing what the league wants them to do. Otherwise the league would have gotten rid of them a long time ago.
These refs are either
1) Screwing up on purpose
or
2) Too damn horrible at their job that they are an embarrasment.
Either way, they should be FIRED IMMEDIATELY. So why havent they? Shouldnt we as fans demand an answer to this?
the league supposedly looks at tape to see what calls were missed. But i don't think the elite like Javie have to worry about the league telling them there fired becuase in there view "refs make mistakes"
hey if you have a problem with the way the games are called and you can do so much better than go get a job as an NBA ref.

I dont want to be an NBA ref because I have integrity.
I have been a high school ref in Texas for over 5 years. And I have never seen anything like this at any level of basketball. I played basketball in high school and college, and never saw any officiating this bad this consistently. That is why I know there is something going on. If a lowly high school ref such as myself can officiate games with other high school ref crews that are consistently fair (not that I dont make mistakes, but I definitely DO NOT call games one sided like the NBA refs do), then why can't PROFESSIONAL refs do the same? I have never been chastised for calling a game one sided in my life. It isnt hard to be consistent on both ends of the court - I know from experience.

nba games are alot different from high school...
a ref says NBA refs are horrible, that about verifies it for me.
