Both teams are evenly matched. The Mavs won on the last possesion. A bounce here and there and the game being in Phoenix instead of Dallas and maybe the game goes the other way. I like the Suns chances in the WCF versus the Mavs as much as Mavs fans should like thiers. Thats why homecourt is so important in the West. I think HCA will play a big part in deciding the Western Conference Champs. As long as Nash and Amare are healthy the Suns have a great chance.
Home court sure made a big difference last year for the mavs.

    head-to-head:

    Mavs:2
    Suns:0

    Enough said.

Oooh, by your logic this must be equally valid:

    NBA Championships:

    SA: 3
    Mavs: 0
    Suns: 0

    Therefore SA > Mavs/Suns

In reality, history is mostly irrelevant. The team that will win the championship this year is the one playing the best at the end of the season. Right now it's a tossup between the Mavs and the Suns. By the end of the season, though, who knows. Dirk could break his ankle, Nash could wear down toward the end of the season, Duncan's PF could come back.

True but that was due more to the fact the Mavs got rattled and worried about Wade getting calls then playing thier game. If the Mavs play the Heat again the outcome will be different. In the West homecourt will be important. Dallas no more wants to play Game 7 in Phoenix then Phoenix wants to play in Dallas.

Nah, I'm not mad about my team's loss at all, games like that happen every once in awhile, no need to invest any more time on the game. What is annoying, is some Suns fan coming in here and dissing Dirk unprovoked like he sucks. Am I going to respond? yes. Anyway, you're the loser who makes excuses about officiating, *skittish* players (whatever THAT means) and tired guards who can't play 1-5 ball...it WAS 1-5 back in December right?

Stretch and dirk4mvp just get down to your level, there are much more knowledgeable and cool Suns fans on the board than the whiner with Marcus Vick as his avatar.

You wanna see pissed off after a loss? Don't make me pull up your old threads.
Ummm, I meant one against 5... not the record of the team.

Obviously, I am a much more knowledgeable basketball fan than some kind of homer you try to purport me to be. Barbosa was skittish - he hasn't stepped up in the big games yet and I hope that he eventually corrects that.

Stretch is just Charley Rosen with profanity.

You're like Switzerland, haha. Nice points. Ron Mexico has always been a little whiner about several things, pay no attention to my comments, they are for him.
Puh-lease. I only have emulated the posts of June 2006 by all Mavs fans on this board. Tasting your own medicine must not be sweet, huh?

Just wait until Rosen uses this single game against the Bulls to make a sweeping argument about the Mavs, then you'll see a little of why I'm bitter. I hate having a sworn enemy's homer (Rosen nuts over the Lakers) trying to write "legit journalism" on the worst online sports outlet and act like it's gospel.

I seriously predict one about the Bulls game shortly.

Rosen will have the Bulls winning the Finals tomorrow. I don't listen to stuff like that. All of these so called expert opinion and NBA Final picks are all subjective.

Tasting my own medicine? Way to generalize about all Mavs fans as surely I do not. You and da_suns ghetto fab boy are the worst Suns fans on the board. da_suns_fan is just pure homer and you're just pure excuses and whining. I understand the insecurity though, Mavs fans went through this when Nash was a part of our team, that is not to say, that it was because of him, because it wasn't. When's the last time you gave the Mavs some props? And making excuses about Nash while pointing out a fact (that Dirk shot a 3) doesn't count. Just curious. I've given the Suns lots of credit, all the time, not a complete homer like you.

I'm not a complete homer, but I remember what it was like when this team went to the Finals 13 years ago and the parrallels are striking. Forgive me for enduring double duty from Mavs and Spurs fans the past 3 years about the Suns style and "defense wins championships." Dirk shot a 2... the score was 101-99, in case you forgot. I just have to be their only defense on this board because it's full of a ton of bleating homers from the DFW area and panhandle.

I give the Mavs props a lot when they deserve it, but I also call out their bull (i.e. Josh Howard's iness and Dirk's inability to win the big one yet, oh and Cuban's a complete hypocrite) when they deserve it. I said Dirk hit that shot because Marion didn't play the right D, but I also said that when one of the Suns key guys fouled out (Diaw), they lost their ball movement and the Mavs got back into it. How is that an excuse? You were calling out Nash for "not winning twice against Dallas this year" when I was pointing out specific instances where he kept them in that game in the final minutes.

If it's being a homer to applaud your two-time MVP when he makes key passes (and rip on Raja/Barbosa for making dumb mistakes), then you obviously haven't been to mavtalk.com in a long time and read some of the bull that comes spewing out of that anus of the internet.

By the way, the only games I "make excuses" for are the Mavs games because I so desperately want the Suns to win those. I don't make excuses when they lose to lesser teams, but the Suns haven't given me an opportunity this year because they've won 32 of their last 34 games!! I don't think you realize how rare these streaks are (and the Mavs were on the verge of only the 2nd 3-time 10+ win streaks in history before blowing it tonight).

You don't hear me pissing about close games to the Blazers or Knicks or Rockets. In fact, you were the one pissing that the Suns should have lost those games "if key players weren't out."

Your ideas of excuses are ridiculous: you can say "well, if T-Mac were playing, the Rockets would have kicked your ass." But I can't say, "Well, if Diaw didn't foul out maybe the Suns would have had a better chance against Dallas"??

That makes no ing sense. Stop trying to preach on the morals of fandom before you take a look in the mirror. The only game you'll see me about in the past is the Suns-Mavs game... and I even told everyone the night before that I was going to get wasted and if A&M and the Suns lost, then be prepared for a huge venting, which I delivered.

The only arguments I make otherwise are ones as to why every media personality from Hollinger to Legler to Greg Anthony to Eddie Johnson proclaim the Suns as the best in the league right now. You guys read this and then start ing and call up "Blogfish" to come to the rescue. I've never seen a bigger whine than the POS that nameless author left out there.

You don't see me make excuses that A&M lost to Tech by 2 in a game they should have won two nights ago... no, in fact I simply was pissed at their missed FTs and poor execution down the stretch. I've always said that team can win the Big 12 as long as they start knocking down FTs... still came up to bite them in the ass. I'm not just some big homer, but at least I offer an intelligent and different point of view than the one you get in the Austin-American Statesman or from Tim Cowlishaw.

LMFAO, Austin-American Statesman? Yeah dude, my grandparents subscribe to that but I get the WSJ, NYTimes and Financial Times delivered to my house each morning and for some international papers that I like to read like El Pais and Le Monde, I have the internet. Anyway, keep writing those commentaries waxing and waning about your Suns, I don't have time to bother with you right now. We'll talk come playoff time when all this for tat will be laid to rest.

    Ponky doesn't get it.

Nash doesn't win every game. Dirk doesnt lose every one of his.

Nash, however, NEVER gives up. Its one of his best qualities. When it looks like all hope is loss, he doesn't piss and moan like Dirk does, he refuses to accept defeat.

This is why the Mavs (again, with a COMPLETELY HEALTHY team against a weak Miami opponent) blew the NBA finals. Dirk faced some adversity and folded.

Meanwhile, the Suns were labeled as the team of resiliency. Every time it looked like they were about to go down, they came back. Eventually, they suffered just too many injuries (three starters and were down to six players in their rotation) and lost to the Mavs. But even then, Nash came to play and didn't pout because he got the short end of the injury stick.

The 7-foot German, who finished third in the MVP voting in the regular season, hit the free throw to tie it with 21 seconds remaining.

"He willed it to the basket," Mavericks guard Jerry Stackhouse said. "Everybody did something special in this game. It was great to have (Jason Terry) back in the lineup. He came up big."

The Spurs had a chance to win it in regulation. Ginobili drove the basket with about six seconds left. His shot missed, Duncan grabbed the rebound and Nowitzki got a hand in to block what would have been a point-blank game-winner.

It was a redeeming final few seconds for Nowitzki, who had the ball in his hands in Dallas' three losses with a chance to win or tie it in the final seconds.

"I saw everything slipping away, the great season we had," Nowitzki said. "If there's a drive to the lane, just take it in there."

And why do you guys keep bringing up the Heat series? It's over. Dallas lost. This year's Mavs team would take out last year's in a series because they've improved and learned since then. And no matter what you think happened last year, the Heat would beaten the Suns, too.

The paragraph before was referring to the lay-in where he was fouled. I think the quote is about that. Sorry for not posting the whole article, but it's a bit long.
