Get Out was great. Other than being a bit predictable, I really enjoyed it.

Fist Fight 2017…If you can get past the nonstop “F” bombs it is funny as heck. But then again I laugh at the same things a teenage boy finds funny…I give it an "8"...

I watched a bezillion do entaries:

Amanda Knox - pretty good. kind of like an extended version of 20/20 or something. Seems like they made the right decision but she also does have something "off" about here.
    6.5/10

The Witness - about the murder of Kitty Genovese but maybe more so about her brother's quest to find out what really happened. he seems bitter because according to him, he volunteered for the Vietnam War based on the reporting of the story. And had both legs blown off.
    6/10

The Square - follows a few characters from the Arab Spring through a couple of elections. I didn't really know much about all of it at the time so this was pretty educational. Especially in showing how the Muslim Brotherhood took advantage of the situation.
    7/10

The Wolfpack - 5 or 6 brothers in Manhatten who were never allowed to leave the house until they were in their late teens. So they watched a ton of movies and would pass the time re-creating them. In spite of the good reviews, it was really boring.
    3/10

Cartel Land - tells the stories of a few vigilantes in the U.S. and in Mexico. The story of the guy in Mexico was pretty amazing. Was able to start in his hometown and arm the populace and then retake several cities that were controlled by the cartels. Some good footage of actual battles vs. the cartels.
    7.5/10

Cropsy - might have mentioned this already. tells the story of a serial killer in 1970-1980 New York. Oh yeah...I remember mentioning this.

Cocaine Cowboys - talks about the cocaine trade in late 70's / early 80's Miami. Had some interviews with some of the major players including the primary hitman for Griselda Blanco. Kind of got slow but not bad.
    6/10

Of all the above, the only ones I felt were worth the time were, Cartel Land, Cropsy, and the Square. And maybe Amanda Knox.

I watched a run of the mill "The Game" type movie. "Happy Birthday" from 2016. ---------SPOILERS--------- Two guys go to Mexacali for one of their birthdays. He just found out his gf was cheating on him when the cheater left a note on the underside of the toilet seat. "She didn't tell me she had a bf until this morning." He storms out and the road trip to Mexico begins. Long story short both of the guys are kidnapped by two beautiful women who then handcuff them to a bed in a hole motel room, torture them and demand ransom for them. A Mexican drug lord oversees the kidnapping. They're continually drugged and put upon by all manner of torture from beatings, cross dressed, all the way to gang raped by a humongous black dildo and then murder as the jilted one frees himself and kills both girls. Turns out the jilted one's friend paid for the entire experience.

The kicker? When the guy finds out he was duped and it was all a lie, what's the first question out of his mouth? "Was my girlfriend cheating on me part of the con?"

Haven't seen a movie this good since The Dark Valley which coincidentally came out the same year as this one. Mads Milkenssen definitely is one of my favorite actors now.

Dad wanted to see Kong... so I treated him for a belated birthday.

Pretty generic. Some really cool visuals, but slow motion was overdone for fights. Most of the acting was wasted and unlike the previous Kong, you never really care about the beast.

Solid 6/10. If you like cinematography, it's worth a view.

If you are buying into the Apocalypse Now meets Kong comparisons, you'll be utterly disappointed.

Also, saw Nice Guys in HBO. That was a solid movie.

Didn't think I'd like it, then read it was from writer/director of Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang and Lethal Weapon (sort of). Really funny in an unexpected subversive sort of way. Wasn't what I expected at all.

    8.5/10.

1995 Ghost in the S . watched it for the first time and was amazed at how well it held up for being a 22 year old movie about technology. 10/10 work of art for museums and future generations

I figured Samuel L. Jackson shouted his way through the whole movie. That stops being funny at some point.

    solid movie, 7.5/10

didn't try to do too much, didn't drag for 3 hours like the Peter Jackson one (though that one was good in it's own way). showed Kong early and often, good cinematography. samuel l jackson's character seemed pretty fake imo... i get what they were going for, but i don't think it worked well.

not an all-timer or movie of the year or anythin like that, but very fun movie, would recommend. compared to the peter jackson one, this one tries way less to be artsy and is perfectly content with being an action "guy flick" which is fine, tbh

also pretty awesome post credit scene and can't wait for the continuation of the kong/godzilla series

Got about 30 minutes into The Great Wall then bailed.

KONG...had everything you look for in a movie about a giant ape. My only problem is why try and sell it as another King Kong when it clearly wasn't.

    I'd give it a 7.

Diablo.....with that ending, but the overall movie...so so.

    Fate of the Furious

    6.5/10

Was fine for what it is. A bit overlong but I was entertained for most of the movie. Decent big screen action flick that sticks with the general theme of the franchise. Charlize Theron was a waste in this movie...as was Helen Mirren. Neither seemed to fit, especially Theron who was probably one of the most unconvincing villains ever. Beyond the action, The Rock and Statham carried the movie a bit and are good fit dialogue-wise.

It's fine for movie eye candy(action, cars) if you feel like burning a few bucks on a matinee.
