Starlink, along with all the foreign aid, has still been a lifesaver for Ukraine.

I can only assume that Musk thinks (rightly or wrongly) that Crimea is a sort of "red line" for Putin that could risk major escalation.

Musk is a businessman and he probably wants to protect his Starlink investment. A major escalation from Russia could come in the form of Russia shooting down Starlink satellites, which is something Russia has demonstrated it can probably do. So maybe Musk is just trying to help Ukraine survive while trying to keep his Starlink investment from becoming a target.

I said the state ie government not the demographics. The Russian state is in Moscow and St Petersburg. Handwaving that at the occupied states outside of Muscovy is fun and all but the systemic oppression of the various non Russian ethnic and religious groups is what it is.

The puppet governments in the occupied regions are squawking about lack of resources indicating Ukrainian efforts to undermine the supply hubs and routes in the Russian rear are bearing fruit.
