She did this because she knew the doctor was on his way to the hospital with the heart, but then THERE WAS A SHOOTING AND THEY SHOT THE DOCTOR, BUT SHE DIDN'T KNOW, AND SHE CUT THE CORD!!

And then, and then... before all that, the patient told her she couldn't steal the heart from the other patient who was about to recieve it, and she had this whole crying scene where she told him to please think about her, what she would have to go through if he died, because she had fallen in love with him, and it made me cry!!!!
