The shaping of the battlefield by hitting really important targets such as Russian machinery made for surveillance and transportation hubs is definitely paying off. This strategy does not make the highlight reel, but clearly shows how determined and innovative the Ukrainians are.
The Russians may have started to figure out war does not bear fruit by using strategic weapons to kill civilians. The Russians actually destroyed one jet located in a Ukrainian airfield moved way too close and therefore militarily vulnerable. The planes have been moved further back in response.
