Wasn't he suspended while in IND for threatening to kill Bonner after a game?

Center? You sure you're not thinking Shelden Williams? Shawne IS a tweener though.

Yeah. D'Antoni used small ball lineups with Williams at center. I rarely ever saw him defend small forwards.
And 82games.com backs up what I saw:

Played mostly at PF, some at C and even less at SF.
As recently as 11 months ago, Shawne was suspended for throwing a punch in a game. Pass.
Isn't PF the position we need help at? Not that this guy is the right one for it, IMO, but I don't think C is the pressing need.
Could very well be but I was responding to him being a RJ replacement.
Fair enough. It sounds like he's not really good enough to play either forward position. Maybe a smallball 4?![]()
I wouldn't personally have a problem with bringing in a power forward to be RJ's replacement. RJ spent far too much time at the 4 and the 5 for me anyway.
in your opinion, why wasn't he successful as a SF?
As far as the character issues, are they really that bad? I don't think the Spurs have the luxury of being too picky anymore.
if the discussed trade of Mayo to the Pacers happens, the Spurs should quickly inquire about Brandon Rush. he will be the odd man out in Indiana. he can play SF, in fact that's the position he would be a better fit. (with Granger and Dunleavy there were no SF minutes available for Rush)
I agree we need a real big that can defend 4's and 5's to improve the defense and give greater versatility.
Reggie Williams is now an unrestricted free agent.

Good news even though Reggie Williams wouldn't fit a pressing need. I guess we'll find out quickly if the Spurs actually have interest in him.
The only way he makes sense is if Anderson or Neal is put into a trade for either a big or a three, neither of which I see happening. Short of that, I'm not sure why they'd have interest in a sub 6-5 SG, who lacks the strength to play full time SF and who's never been accused of playing defense.
Why we're not hearing of them being interested in Parker and even Stevenson, I have no idea. Yes, they're really SG's, but Parker is one inch smaller and the same weight as Howard. Only unlike Howard, he's durable, is an excellent three-point shooter, a solid defender and Spurs material. It would be a stretch to play Stevenson full time at SF, but he's strong, tough, solid defensively and from three. If they can pull off a trade for a quality starting big and have to go cheap at SF, so be it.
Don't need Reggie, James Anderson seems to be better.
First thing that comes to mind for me too when someone mentions Reggie Williams.
The Spurs hope Anderson is a better Williams. But it's a little premature to say he "seems to be better".
WTF ever happened to Kelenna Azubuike? Did he never recover from the knee injury?
this. If we're gonna play Warriors ball, why not get all the pieces?
Hasn't played in the NBA since Nov, 2009. There were stories last season that he was going to try to get back on the court, but he didn't make it.

I think Reggie Williams can play 1-3 which gives Pop more options in using him. Whether he's better than Anderson it's probably too soon to say.
I guess. But it's not like Reggie is some sick player. What I saw from James when healthy on both ends showed me he was a better all around player. Whether that turns into an actual impact is one thing, but it's not like Reggie has an impact.
Don't understand how that is good news, unless you think this team needs to have a chance at another undersized (6'4"), horrible defender at the 3. Best he will do is shoot 40% from 3, minute-block the best young prospects on this team (Leonard/Anderson), all while getting abused and bullied on the defensive end (Roger Mason experience all over again).
I hope to god Spurs aren't interested in this non-defensive, undersized, chucker.
I wish he was still restricted, so there's a guarantee we won't sign him.
I don't give a about any of this right now tbh.
The Texans are in the playoffs es!

Another element in the Pacers pursuit of OJ Mayo is that they also want to send Brandon Rush to Memphis w McRoberts, according to a source.

Wiz FA F Josh Howard now as an offer in hand from Spurs, rep says. Utah made offer & will meet with him this week. Wiz also still in mix.
