It is a worthwhile gamble for NO to pair him with AD. If they make the playoffs, that pick is valuable but not as much. They can recover losing Buddy. Even if Boogie leaves, it's not like they got fleeced.

Would be sick if Evans came to SA after a buyout.
We'd have to make a cut since the Anthony deal right?

Yes. I'm amazed that this is still a question. Dude is such a POS.

NOP is probably going to be in a frenzy after the draft. They supposedly will have all of their pick obligations done by then, so they will be able to add some to get rid of salary. With Cousins salary-controlled and Jrue with a smallish hold, I could see them being an interesting free-agent destination if they can get some room.

Ya - but that would be no issue.

They better get it right then though . If they get to Keep Cousins and Jrue they will only have next year to do so with building that team before it's cap .

Does Rudy Gay still take up a roster spot? If so, wouldn't the Kings need to drop 2 players?

If Omri is part of the trade, then never mind.

Boogies agent has already told people it is very unlikely he resigns with team who trades for him. That is the biggest reason no one would bet on it.
They gave up their lottery pick in buddy, who could still develop into one of the premier scorers in the league. It's a huge risk in my opinion.

If cousins is happy then it works out, but he's an unrestricted free agent. Losing your lottery pick, who some thought was the best developmental piece in the draft, plus two more picks and a couple role pieces is a big swing at something you might not have anything to show at the end of his contract. That wouldn't help keep Davis either if cousins bounces. They could end up losing his interest in NO if they go full rebuild after that.

Big risk in my opinion, not a steal.
I believe cousins will talk to teams and the spurs will be one of them with kawhi recruiting.
I mentioned before, kawhi is one of the few people I've always heard cousins talk positive about and they sat and joked together at the all star game all night. If they actually do get along I don't see why it wouldn't work as far as personal wise.
It'll be an interesting off season.

Any decent piece that isn't in their long term plans may as well be dropped. They should've initiated a tank long ago if this was their plan.

Huge steal. Cousins has another year left on his deal after this. While I think he could walk, it doesn't seem likely. Even he has to love where he landed, all things considered.

It's gonna be crazy if NOP manages to swing a trade for Wall next year.

If those two tear it up, it'll probably force teams to go big once again instead of running D'Antoni ball.

It's a risk, but it's pretty minimal IMO. Buddy, while some people like him, doesn't seem to have near the ceiling that people thought. The pick is a decent deal, but if they make the playoffs statistically it's not a crazy pick to give up.

It's a gamble for sure, but even if he walks, it was a worthwhile swing imo.

Talent-wise this looks like a good move for the Pelicans, but package-wise, big-picture-wise I think Sacramento did pretty well. It will be very interesting to see how things proceed in Sactown with the toxicity removed.

After being traded, he definitely tests the market. The question is whether NO can offer a better place for him than anyone else at that time. In the mean time, your record will be better, which means worse draft position with whatever you're left with(2ND?) And you won't be competing for a championship. You just put your entire franchise at risk on a gamble that you can convince him to stay, and you have one full season to do it.
Their cap is going to be hard to play with. Really depends on what supporting cast they can offer while being of interest to possibly one more big name.

Unless you're in contention, which they're not, I can't see this as a steal at all. High risk high reward. If it works out, it'll be gold, but there are a ton of IFs involved.
