Iran has played a major role as well. They were not gonna let Sunni just take a country this easily. So they sacrificed a bunch of non Persian Shiites along with more innocent people. Reminds me of the PLO under the later Arafat once corrupted. He used his own people as fodder.

the iranians back the houthi rebels. and i would say the U.S. more than plays along. we are flat out killing and starving civilians. i think russians are likely indifferent-likely due to state-sponsored propaganda but americans are not much better. neither party concerns itself with war, the media barely covers it and many of our so called progressive moments ignore war as a major issue. all part of the selective outrage/compassion of our times.
the Iranians don't seem top be hurting the Saudis, or helping the Houthi much. I'd hardly call their role major, but it's fashionable to say so.
you're parroting what you've heard on TV or read in magazines. the role of the Iranians is minor and the Houthis aren't their proxies, they're out for themselves.
