I totally expect him to go back to his usual rotations the next game
Bank on it. In fact, the depressing thing about Spurs victories is they incrementally restore Pop's level of confidence and give him a new lease on his coaching life. That's a worse consequence than missing out on a top 5 pick.

That point, plus an infusion of talent is why I am pro-tank. I am not going to be sour the Spurs won a game, but in the big picture, if they aren't going to turn their season around for real, these wins are meaningless and only affect as you say, further standing pat, a lesser draft pick slot, etc. I am still not convinced by these Spurs bc they lit up Portland too.

Some of Pop's best coaching decisions have been forced on him.

Funny when the Lakers beat the Spurs, NBA Game time showed Lakers clips or mentions every third game. I have been watching game time for an hour since game ended only mention of the game was LeBron having the 'assist of the night.' All about pushing the narrative. Would probably be drowning in LeBron's postgame if game went other way, smh.

Yeah, I am totally conflicted every game. I simply don't have it in me to root against my team. But I hate to see a spark of life in them rekindle Pop's barely-warm coaching embers. Tonight was the most excited I have been watching the Spurs since the spring of 2017. The energy and enthusiasm of (mostly) Jakob and Davis was light years beyond that pathetic starting unit Pop keeps trotting out on the court to promptly dig the team into a double digit hole. Pop and LMA (and, preferably DeMar) need to go. Packaging DeMar with LMA could reap a nice return imho.

That isn't part of the "new NBA."

I thought it was more mental than inability to play that was hurting him early on. He was clearly pressing and "thinking too much" and uncomfortable playing with new teammates. Hopefully, he's turned the corner and will be given major minutes or inserted back into the starting lineup.

I agree that the team needs a lottery pick and a further infusion of young talent, but I also hate seeing them lose.....

With the lottery rules changing and making "tanking" less desirable and fruitful; ending up around the 35 - 38 win total wouldn't be too terrible.

It is more that we are the cryptkeeper's to Lebron's soul. Dude must hate us. We are the only team in the league he doesnt have a winning record against and it isnt even close. We are pummeling him in H2H.

Nice to see his monkeyball antics from Wednesday night get punished when he was acting like a clown and showboating at the end of the game.

No way Lebron should have only 8 FTA with how much he's attacking the rim.

Meanwhile this chucker Defrozen has 16 FTA. Spurefs
