Why are people so offensive, scola is a good player, and some people are his fans. Jesus..
, I'm probably better then Bonner, but fyi he's already signed, he's probably not going anywhere and there's not a damn thing you or I can do about it but and whine, and all that's going to do is make you sound like a little girl.
Why are people so offensive, scola is a good player, and some people are his fans. Jesus..
When all is said and done, it's very conceivable that Scola may end up being a very very good player. I'm guessing what gets under peoples skin is the multiple of scola threads, topics, innuendos, failed attempts at wit and derision and such. We had him, the stars didn't align and we didn't sign him irregardless of who's fault it was. Scola is no longer Spurs property or a player. Move on, because we're still Spur's fans.
I'm not a fan, though I love his game. I hate him, not personally but because he is sleeping with the enemy. Make no mistake though I would have loved to have had him on the Spurs. I am absolutely certain, about as certain as I've ever been about anything that he would have helped the Spurs. But the powers that be, rightly or wrongly didn't see it that way. The deal is done, the ink is dry and we all need to move on.
I watched the game yesterday and Scola was quite good :
- His offense in the first half was really nice. Scola plays very smart and took what the defense give to him. He was always making the right choice. His passing game was very good with two nice assists.
- In the second half, Miami let him less freedom and Scola was less effective. He started to score again at the end of the game with a couple of good moves.
- Scola didn't look lost at all and his teammates were looking at him during the whole game.
- His defense was atrocious. He did mistakes after mistakes and played no team defense. A defensive minded coach wouldn't have supported this.
- His rebounding was fine even if most of his rebounds were uncontested ones. Scola isn't a rebounding beast but he isn't a liability either.
- Scola is an average shooter. He isn't a good one and it was obvious in this game because he was playing against a good one (Haslem). The difference between both on midrange jumpshoot was flagrant.
-Scola is definitely not a good athlete by nba standard. He isn't strong, big, athletic or quick. It doesn't mean that he won't be a good nba player but he struggled a little around the rim because of that.
All in all, it was a nice game by Scola. However a lot of questions remains about his defensive abilities and about the fact that he isn't more than an opportunistic scorer.

He's not a Spur.
Insults to idiot Rocket fans aside, with so little NBA experience, Scola looks pretty good to me. He has a knack for getting into the right spots, he has a good basketball IQ and he hustles. He's kind of a Malik/Oberto type guy without Oberto's size or Malik's defense. I hope he has a good pro career, and I wish the Spurs could have kept him, but the simple fact is the Spurs needed to decide between Scola and Splitter. With his size, defense and shooting, Scola wasn't going to be a great fit here.
I agree. Scola's a good scorer with crap D, the defense is the religion in San Antonio and we have better players to fill the scorer role (the Big Three)
Oberto proved in recent games against Yao (only 2p Yao scored on him in 18'), Gasol (only 8p last night on him in 24') and Howard (well, Howard is the beast but Fab did a solid job) he can be a great defender when manages out foul troubles.
I think with Duncan,Oberto, Horry/Elson/Bonner and Splitter next season, the Spurs shouldn't worry for their bigmen options.
go ahead and clean your face.
So now is Scola's fault that the Rockets suck at the PG and SG possitions too????(I didn't know He was the Rocket's coach too)
LMO @ Wottt almost out of arguments to bush Scola.
The Guy is getting decent stats with T-Mac and Yao in the same team, even though Adelman's game plan and D system sucks mayor ass,Scola is making the best out of it in his roockie season.
The were 6-1 now his game plan and D sucks.you scola suker. weren't you
ed
I was !
And Adelman sucks.
No matter how lucky He got in the first 7gms of the season.
20pts, 9rbs, 3ast, 1blk for Scola
just another day in the office for the Argentine big man
"but but but Boner getting paid $10 mil is better"
Thank god Houston has a player the quality of Scola, otherwise they might have gone on a big losing streak in McGrady's absence![]()
I don't get that argument. I didn't see the game but obviously, he sucks on D.
Still, it would have been worth for the rocks without Scola's decent games, right ? Or is he the reason of the losing streak ?
Should he go for 40 and 20, or have bad games so the rocks could win ?
The reason for the Rocket´s losing streak is they suck as a team, Scola is a good team player, if there is no team he cant do anything.
Your the everytime he has a good game you seem to have an erection. Are you sure your a Spurs fan and for how long? Let me guess when Manu first played his first game and you also root for the Rockets,Bulls, and the Bobcats.
Scola only plays 3 minutes in the first half, Rockets are up by 18.
The idea that somehow the Rockets are holding Scola down is a freaking joke...
The Rockets are a playoff team with at least two players who jocks Scola will never be fit to carry...
You Scola homers are sickening. Don't lecture us about team...you guys don't understand the first thing about team...if you did, you wouldn't be rooting for the player over it...and that's what you are doing...all you care about is Scola's scoring...and couldn't care less about if thr Rockets are actuallly winning or losing...and yet you have the audacity to put down, "the team" to jock the individual, you throw the entire team under the buss, in protecting your beloved individual...I'd call it hypochrisy...only you guys don't seem smart enough to deserve that label.
While I agree that when Scola plays less the Rockets win for some reason is an interesting/compelling stat, this thread however, is not about the Rockets winning or their record and it's not even about the Rockets as a team at all, it's about Scola's indvidual game, hence the le of the thread: The Official SCOLA thread. So it's no use bringing in winning in a thread about individual performances.
unless Scola were to stop putting up numbers, but start helping the Rockets win, then all of a sudden this thread would be all about winning
scola is so overrated if he was from a different country this place would not care about him
^ Agreed.
Why oh why couldn't he be from Cambodia???
Has it ever occurred to some Scola lovers that he is just not as godly of a player as you would like him to be? He sucks actually.
Says someone who's a dirk fan, I am sure you are an expert on how your favourite player sucked...weeeee!![]()
Scola at his best will probably average 10 and 5 in the NBA, with some offensive bursts from time to time. It's a select few that think he will be putting up 20 and 10 consistently.
