There is no way. If Romo is healthy and plays every game, he's a top QB. If Parker is healthy and plays every game, he ruins his team.

    Romo down already.
It really is pathetic.. All my Cowboy fan friends hate that I always have a negative at ude toward the Cowboys when we're watching the game, but god damn what the are we supposed to do? Every year we gotta base our hopes on this got either being healthy or not making re ed mistakes when he is. Romo. One of the leaders in Cowboys history in a variety of stats, but his legacy will forever be ty because of his inability to stay healthy and lead the team to meaningful wins.

nfc east is still wide open
I don't see it. I see the Cowboys, Giants and Skins all winning double digits this year, given the schedules and their offenses and all.

I strangely think Dak is an upgrade over Romo. Not only is he a heck of a runner, he's proven he can throw short, intermediate and deep ball throws on point and on time; he's shown he's not afraid to throw deep even on early downs; he's shown the ability to pass both from the pocket and scrambling; he's shown he can handle pressure from the best D in the NFL and make the smart, responsible throw to get an easy field goal in a well executed 2 minute drill. If it weren't for Bailey's odd miss, he would have beaten Russell Wilson, mano-y-mano, and the Seahawks' first stringers, 13-10, even WITHOUT Dez and only one drive of Zeke.

I still say 12–4 and and a top 4 seed in the playoffs this year, with no less than one playoff victory, and possibly more. This is assuming Romo doesn't come back to the field. I see a taller Russell Wilson in Dak.

You forgot the part where they bring in a rusty Romo and it all up after Dak goes 6-2.

Its about time Romo retires.....Looking forward to how Dak adapts to the regular season.......

Dak will take the Cowboys to the playoffs......SB maybe not....Still will be fun to see what Dak can do against the Giants....

What are you guys looking at in particular?

He airmailed pretty much all deep/intermediate balls in that clip, looks flat-footed, stares down his receivers, and the one touchdown pass was woefully underthrown (off back foot). Witten made an incredible play to not only avoid an easy turnover, but also score. In that entire clip he looked at more than 2 reads maybe once. He's a rookie, so it's a fair point not to expect all the mechanics to be sharp right away, but--other than a quick release--what's the cause of this semen cloud? I'll eat crow if I'm wrong, but I see flash-in-the-pan written all over him. He'll be a victim of the dreaded "game film" after a year or less.

Let them have their hope. It's preseasob, if he turns out to be good then so be it. will get real now because teams will start gameplanning for him before the season even starts.

Dak looked pretty good to me......no need to hate give the dude some props.....Yes it is preseason......But he is playing against one of the best defense in the league.....Plus no Dez in the line up....Not bad for a rookie....

I'm not worried about Dak and his abilities. I'm more worried about this coaching staff's ability to come up with a a plan that gives Dak the best chance to succeed. Especially after how they handled the same situation last year...

The Seattle game was his worst game by far despite solid stats in limited action against the best defense in the league without his top 5 NFL receiver. And his decision making was excellent, but his throwing was a bit off on a couple of the deep balls (they could have been caught honestly, but Beasley isn't really a deep receiver, and Williams struggles with contested deep balls as well)... anything to Dez one-on-one is always going to be hard on any defense if Dez is healthy unlike last year. Out of the smaller fast guys, Dunbar is the best deep receiver by far, he just has a hard time staying healthy.

For instance, Aaron Rodgers didn't do better against that same defense in the NFCCG a couple years back. And Dak's decision making was better than Rodgers' that game, but some of the throws were a bit off and the receivers were off.

The Packers don't have a Zeke Elliott to maul the best strong safety in the league, either. Lacy is just too fat.

I'm excited as for 9/11 and Dak to crush the Giants' defense on opening night, something Romo couldn't do until the last half of the 4th quarter last year.

The Dallas defense for the most part is abysmal. And, the highest draft pick spent on it will not suit-up this season. The amount of improvement needed in order for this team to remain relevant isn't possible. Granted, they are in the NFC east. But the two most threatening teams have high-end offenses even though Cousins has to do more proving to the league. But off-the-bat both teams are in better positions at the QB position. In your first six you have three teams that are going to put points on the board no matter what (NYG/GB/WASH). One team that is a better overall team, and more stable offensively in the Bengals. And two teams that are in disarray in SF and CHI. While it is possible to win three games in here I just don't see it. I say the record is 2-4 before the bye. Now, you have two very winnable games after the bye, before going into a five game stretch that is the toughest on this weak schedule. And, you pretty much will have to win the division to make the playoffs, there will be a lot of ground to make up. Not saying it can't happen, I just don't see it.

Way too pessimistic... lol. NYG will not come in here and win first game of the season. WAS away is questionable but I have us winning there too. The Bungles won't be good and are nowhere in our league offensively... lol. Their QB is inconsistent trash, running game isn't great, OL isn't good, TE isn't that good, and they have one good receiver. I have us beating the Bungles home, but it may be close. I have the Bungles going 8-8 due to regressing to the mean, schedule, and Steelers/Ravens being better.

And you're way too pessimistic about our defense and way underestimating Marinelli and the guys we have. Sure, we won't be Seahawks or Broncos amazing, but I have us in the 10-15 range (yardage) and top 10 (takeaways) given our coaching and who we have. This isn't last year's squad who had to defend the run and pass all game and wore out due to our lack of offensive mobility.

People all called our defense "abysmal" and "collegiate" prior to the start of the 2014 season, and we finished middling, even with no pass rush, no Sean Lee, much worse DT corps, and no Claiborne.

    We'll be alright.

No it's not abysmal. Our coaches don't play the starters for 2 and a half quarters in a preseason game. All hands on deck, we have a solid front 7 with an above average back field.

You were dead last in turnovers generated with a total of 11. That's an average of less than .7 per game. Horrendous. While your total defense in regards to yards per game were in the middle of the pack. Perhaps abysmal was an exaggeration, but you were quite bad ulatively. Your front seven was so solid that you allowed 120 yards per game on the ground.

You beat the Giants by one point with Romo last year. While you did beat the skins early last season, it wasn't the same team you saw at the end of last season. Look I'm not saying you guys can't hold serve the first six, I'm just saying it's more than likely not feasible. Atlanta and N.O are offensive minded teams that have no defenses yet they beat you by one score. It's not off-base to say that isn't likely given the state of your defense.

I don't think they will be great, but they should be improved by a decent margin. At least we're not starting Nick Hayden at DT this year. He isn't bad to spell people for a few plays, but Collins and Thornton should be a pretty good upgrade up front against the run. DE is way more of a question mark until DeLawrence gets back, but they have more bodies this year to rotate in and out.
