And we did not think they would curb stomp the Russians in the beginning.
You did not gripe about this aide when the war started though. It came later.
So my overall feeling towards our aide is not enough and more importantly, not soon enough with the better strategic weapons .
And your apparent belief that Putin will negotiate when he is not under as much duress, like right now, is flat out wrong Imo. He will have to be on the precipice of defeat politically and of militarily to negotiate.

Not only did Trump ask a newly elected leader to try to use a foreign secret service to help him win an election. He really did threaten to cut off substantial military aide in a time when there was no war, but may have indeed given Putin even more reason to be so stupid about the attacking in the first place. “The American’s won’t help, we got this” type thinking.
So the real mythical fairy tale from my end sees you believing Putin will actually negotiate in good faith. He has not for 25 years during the long list of invading other former Soviet States and more. We could go through that list again.

Apparently the VDV which is the RUS version of Army rangers has been attritted so badly and so poorly replaced they perform no better than the normal or penal regiments.
They are afraid to recruit from the Western states that actually contain the ethnic Russians and at the same time afraid to empower soldiers from the Asiatic East.
