Each one of these fighters, bombers, AWACS, and ECM system the RUS lose is extremely expensive and difficult to replace. Losing 2 AWACS really sucks when the squadron is 5.
This is an absolute disaster for RUS. The mercenaries had been their most effective forces but they had to be purged.
With the election 8 weeks away the RUS winter offensive has accomplished zero strategic goals. From a multinational perspective, they are completely reliant on their alliance with China and nukes to prevent NATO from rolling over their forces
& not a week ago all was lost for Ukr. Just shows ta go ya, Lumps.

The problems arose shortly after the US Secretary of State visited Turkey
Ekonomim writes about this, citing sources familiar with the situation. According to them, the flow of payments for trade transactions has practically stopped, and trade in national currencies has been hit: Turkish banks do not accept either lira or rubles from Russia.

Some banks have begun to cancel previously approved transactions, claiming that the deals involve banned goods, Ekonomim's sources say. The payment blockade has become almost total and has affected all industries: banks are blocking payments from Russia to Turkish chemical companies, auto parts factories, clothing and footwear manufacturers.
The problems arose shortly after U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken visited Turkey. During his visit, he discussed "sanctions and export controls" and possible attempts to cir vent them with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
Earlier, in late November, US Deputy Treasury Secretary Wally Adayemo, who is responsible for overseeing sanctions policy, visited Ankara. According to Bloomberg sources, Adayemo brought a "final warning" to Turkish companies: for violating measures against Russia, they were threatened with financial sanctions, up to and including the loss of access to the Western banking system.

https://www.politico.eu/article/in-p...ukrainef-fico/Slovakia enables arms exports to Ukraine as Fico completes U-turn
The Slovak parliament backed an amendment Tuesday that would empower the defense ministry to approve arms exports, paving the way for public and private weapons companies to continue arming Ukraine — and completing a volte-face from Prime Minister Robert Fico's pre-election vow "not to send another bullet" to Kyiv.
The legislature approved the change to the country’s proposed Competence Law by a narrow majority. President Zuzana Čaputová had previously vetoed the bill, approved in accelerated proceedings shortly before Christmas, reasoning that the defense ministry did not have the expert resources to assess the potential risks of arms sales to Slovakia’s international reputation and security.
But critics of the apparent reversal — the veto on arms exports has until now belonged to the foreign ministry and the SIS intelligence service — said Fico's anti-weapons posture on Ukraine had been aimed at attracting votes to his Smer party in last year's election, and that the profits to be made from arming Kyiv ensured that exports would continue.

https://www.pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2024/01/16/7437453/Half of Russia is grappling with heating, water and power outages in widespread utility crisis
A collapse in the housing and utilities system has struck half of the regions in Russia.
Municipal emergencies have affected at least 43 regions, leaving hundreds of thousands of Russian residents without heating, water, electricity and gas.
The largest incident occurred in Podolsk near Moscow, where 20,000 people were left without heating in -30°C temperatures. Even nearly two weeks after the incident, the local authorities have not been able to fully restore the heat supply.
In Novosibirsk, an emergency left 14,000 people in 237 buildings without heating, and in Lipetsk, 10,000 people in 282 buildings were affected.
Significant emergencies have also been reported in Saratov, where heating was turned off in over 650 buildings and 100 social facilities, including schools and hospitals; Volgograd, where tens of thousands of people were left without heating; and Nakhodka, where 6,000 people faced the same issue.
Yet despite critical wear and tear and a series of emergencies, the Russian government is planning drastic reductions in spending on housing and utility infrastructure.

A court in Russia’s republic of Bashkortostan sentenced prominent local activist Fayil Alsynov to four years in a penal colony on charges of “inciting interethnic hatred,” the regional news outlet Idel.Realii reported Wednesday.
The case against the activist has mobilized many in the Ural Mountains republic who say that Alsynov is being unfairly targeted over his popularity and achievements defending the rights of Bashkortostan’s indigenous Bashkir peoples, their land rights, sacred sites and culture.
As the verdict was handed down, thousands gathered outside the Baymaksky District Court in support of Alsynov, the Govorit NeMoskva news outlet reported, defying an official warning from regional police and temperatures of minus 21 degrees Celsius.
Riot police allegedly used smoke grenades, tear gas and batons to disperse the crowd, injuring at least 22 people, according to Idel.Realii.
