I saw the game again twice today in a more neutral perspective after all the emotions and I must say it was pretty terrible. Our team was frustrated and scared. They have been so confident and cool all tournament long, this is the only game where they faced that the win wasnt so sure anymore so they got frustrated and angry and started to play bad.

They were very agressive and kicking everywhere, it's a disgrace actually. It didnt even look like football anymore. No fair play, just sliding, tackling, kicking. Disgrace and very ugly. The Dutch team on this tournament played already a type of football which was not really the Dutch way and a beautifull style we all were used of, but it paid off. But yesterday was even more of a different type of football. We have never played like this, shamefull.

Anyway, except for the disgrace yesterday, I have enjoyed the games and the success of this team. Only 2 losses since van Marwijk became head coach!! I hope he stays the coach but I also hope they will go back to the old beautifull style of Dutch football. The style the Germans and the Spanish did play this tournaments and we, the nation who are known for that style, didnt.
Im pretty sure that was van Marwijks gameplan.

Play hard, also foul hard so spain players getting uncomfortable. Probably also counting for that Webb wont have the guts to give a lot of cards early (or even a red).

And actually you played allready like that, again in a big game:

That's not really true. This is not van Marwijks gameplan, nor have we played like this in this extent in the other games. Yes we were dirty and not beautiful football, but its not his gameplan. van Marwijks gameplan is to play just controlled football, do whats necessary for a win and thats it. This agressive, tackling fighting style was not his plan.

He also got a lot of criticism in Netherlands because of that controlled style, leaving the beautiful dutch style of totalfootball behind. But hey it paid off and he managed to win and only lose 2 times since he became coach even though its unatractive football.

Anyway, this happened because this was the only game were the Dutch werent confident anymore that they would win. In all the other games they were and they still knew they were going to win, this was the first time they knew this could end up very ugly, and much was at stake. So when they faced the possibility that they could be losing, they started to get frustrated and getting hard and mean, just out of frustration and because they were scared.

Also you cant compare this to the game with Portugal. Back then we did still have our old totalfootball style. That game was just a wild one from both sides and the crazy ref made it even worse, he made both sides go even more crazy. The Portuguese were hard too.

Why would I? Im not someone, like some around here, who will get all hateful and act like a childish whining little just because their team has lost a game.

Doesnt mean im happy either. Of course I am pissed off, I hate it and I feel ed up, but being a little ing and hating wont change anything.

The team was welcomed as if they were the champions lol. Half a million people on the streets
I think it was pretty nice and awesome, but on the other hand, I must say its a bit too much and exagerated, because, I mean, we are still the losers.

Ya but there's a lot of pride involved when you get to see your team go that far. If the US made it that far im sure there would be a massive welcoming when they got back.

The final was a dissgrace for Dutch football.
I was really upset they got a parade through Amsterdam.

My negative feelings have gone down a day later and am proud to get the silver.

Still unbeaten 25 straight games in regular playing time.
