I'm not a cap guy, Mel or Chinook could answer, tbh..
Just makes a lot of sense from a fit perspective(he's exactly what they're missing) and his relationship with James..
Would Cleveland have room? They have their big 3, Varejao (~$10 million next year), and then they'll have to make a decision on Tristan Thompson who could easily get $8-10 million/year even though he sucks.
Would be kind of ty if he went there anyways considering they cut him back in the day...although I guess we did too![]()

They'll only have cap space if they let Love walk. Atlanta is in the best cap position of the teams you listed.
Danny Green is a straight up winner, point blank. Put him in the game and your chances of winning increase exponentially. Just makes plays.
Sucks that I missed this game, but glad it was a Verde type of game.
Interesting..the compe ion doesn't seem like it's going to be too strong then, should lead to a fair deal for the Spurs and Green, hopefully..
Green has really turned into one of my favorite Spurs ever. we always talk about how leonard has been the difference in allowing us to get to the WCF, and then back to back finals, but Danny's improvement has been almost as important. Danny has won us playoff games, and several of them tbh, which is amazing production from a role player. Best 3 and D player in the league
I think both of them need the Spurs:
For Kawhi if he goes to a team they will expect him to be a max player and if he doesn't deliver he will press and be worse. For him being with the Spurs they can let him stretch his wings and if he falls no problem other players will step up. If he goes to another team he is going to have to be upfront with the media which will not be nice if the team is loosing.
For Green he should now that bouncing from team to team is no fun. Also the fact that he is he type of player that needs a fire under his ass without hurting his ego which takes someone like Pop to be ale to pull off.
Kevin Pelton in his chat just said he expects Danny to get an 8 figure contract. Can/will the Spurs pay that? And if not, can they keep him at a lesser price? 10 mil for Danny seems high, but the market may demand it, and we'd be a lot worse without the luxury of 2 great perimeter defenders. (Danny and Kawhi)

Danny Green with be a FA this summer. Given his relationship with LeBron and the needs of the Cavs (defense) do you see them going hard after him? And could they pry him away from the Spurs? RC and Pop don't lose many people that don't want to let go.
Kevin Pelton (4:50 PM)
He'd be perfect for the Cavaliers, but the only way they could compete financially is a sign-and-trade involving Brendan Haywood's contract. And Green would have to tell the Spurs he was definitely leaving for them to consider that.
I haven't looked at the Spurs' cap situation, and I expect that to change drastically depending on whether Tim and Manu retire or not. But if you put Raymond Felton's gun to my head, I would say the Spurs will do their best to accommodate him.
8 figure deal.![]()
I do think the Spurs being able to offer a five-year deal may help them keep their APY down. I could see Green staying for a deal totaling between $35M and $45M. I just don't think any other team will pay Green more.
This guy is ranked 11th in Yahoo fantasy... RC better take the check book out
Danny's shooting has been incredible the last few games. Every time he puts it up you feel like it's going in.
The hammer play with the Manu hook pass off the backscreen for Danny is such a fun play to watch. He's made the last few of those.
Danny Green will be on First Take, coming up on ESPN2. They are set at Music Box in Cleveland. He'll probably talk Spurs but for sure he's talking about what adjustments the Warriors need to make in order to win the game tonight and keep the series alive.
He just chose the Cavs to win it all, he'll be at the desk right after these commercials.
Ha he didnt give away any secrets in slowing leBron when they asked him
ing cavs fans trying to recruit green
Cites the injuries was the main factor in getting over the hump. He also notes that Tony was the engine of the team for the past two years so it took a toll on him and he wasn't himself this past year. When asked if he could've seen the Spurs in the finals versus the Cavaliers, he said if they were to have won the Clippers series he believes they would've been there. Stephen A. Smith hilariously added that he knows very well that the Spurs would've defeated the Cavs with or without Kyrie and LoveCavs fans were cheering oto the idea Danny Green signing with the Cavs.
We keep posting the same highlights![]()
