says a draft letter from alumnae of Holton-Arms, a private girls school in Bethesda, Maryland.
“It demands a thorough and independent investigation
before the Senate can reasonably vote on Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to a lifetime seat on the nation’s highest court.”
The women also say that what Ford is alleging
“is all too consistent with stories we heard and lived while attending Holton. Many of us are survivors ourselves.”
The letter is a boost of support for Ford, who has been thrust into the political spotlight and had her credibility questioned by going up against Kavanaugh and the White House.
The signatories span decades at the school ― before, during and after Ford attended.

Merrick Garland Says He’s Still Available
BETHESDA, MARYLAND —Saying that
he would like to help the Senate Judiciary Committee “in any way I can,”
Judge Merrick Garland announced on Monday that he is “still available” to be confirmed as a United States Supreme Court Justice.
“I haven’t heard from anyone on the Judiciary Committee,” Garland said.
“But I just want to let them know that I’ve let bygones be bygones if they’d like to confirm me now.”
The judge said that he was “not surprised” that no one from the White House has called about his availability for the Supreme Court job.
“I’ve been reading that Woodward book,” he said.
“It sounds like things can get pretty hectic over there.”
Garland noted that, when he was first nominated to the Supreme Court,
no Republican senator agreed to meet with him, but added,
“Maybe they can find some time in their schedules now.”
“After what they’ve been going through for the past couple of days,
the Republicans might want to give old Merrick another look,” he said.

A former sex-crimes prosecutor analyzed Ford’s allegations against Kavanaugh. Here’s her take.
“I stand to believe there’s no such thing as a ‘he-said-she-said’ case,” Linda Fairstein, former chief of the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office’s Sex Crimes Bureau, told The Post.
“As a prosecutor, it’s your job to break down every minute of the encounter so that details on one side pushes the facts over the edge.”
“The reason we have statutes of limitations is because its difficult to defend yourself when someone makes an accusation against you from years ago.
It’s difficult to have witnesses or forensics,” he said.
But, according to Fairstein, it was completely normal that Ford “didn’t remember” several details.
“If she testifies, I would expect her to say ‘I don’t remember’ scores of times,” Fairstein said, for two reasons:
the passage of time and trauma.
“She found this experience so upsetting that she felt her life was in danger.
There might be 220 things she doesn’t know and
then a very specific sentence about what happened that was so traumatic."
