FYI- It finally made it onto Spurs.com.
Production-wise, this looks like a lateral move. But in Pop/RC we must believe.
(I remember Ely being a bit of a dissapointment with the Clippers -- but he did have his supporters.)

Yeah, my bad.
If Bonner and Ely are re-signed, I could see bigs of Bonner, Ely, Butler and Mahinmi down the line. Depending on how they develop, that's a pretty talented foursome and they all have varied skills.
I always for ex-Clippers coming to the Spurs. I love my Clippers. I wish Sterling would open his eyes.
That's because the official press release just came out a few minutes ago. So the official sites don't post anything until that happens.
STILL not on ESPN! And R.C. is set to speak to the media on it in 20 minutes...
That's okay. I don't ESPN will be there, just local media.
What station should we tune into?
Sorry....meant to specify ESPN.com
You'd at least figure they'd have that covered...
For those of us not in SA, think it's worth seeing if NBATV will carry it?
heheheh,who know?????
seriusly,It all over the news in arg. that if luis is gonna have to pay part of his buy out,he wants trhe spurs to make it up to him by giving him a better salary, not that scola worthes 3 M p/year in his roockie season.
Sorry, when I read that I couldn't help but think of this:

More of this is a good thing. We need to improve on defense.

Damn. To compare, Mo Sene of the Sonics has the biggest wingspan in the NBA at 7'8". Sene's standing reach is 9'5".
260 pounds and the traits to be a good shotblocker? For Williams and junk?
I'll take it.

I guess Ely will be playing for the Spurs after the all-star break.
problem is ely is a bad defender
Not really. In every year in his career, opponents averaged less points when he's on the court compared to when he's off it. That's a pretty good track record as a defender.
Elminating the possibility that that's not just because the game slowed down with him in it, I hope.
No he's got all the tools to be a great defender and has shown the ability to be a good shot blocker. His problem isn't skill, it's his intensity/desire. I'm not saying that will change, but it's possible for a player in his contract year to "flip a switch" and play over his head if he thinks it'll get him more $$$.
IF this kid plays to his potential, he could be good for the Spurs....
That's if he plays at all...
Problem is you obviously haven't watched him play that much.
If Ely can learn the Spurs defensive system by the end of the regular season he will either be starting or the first big off the bench.
