are you going to the game?

Id be willing to bet 50% at least of the people ing that the game isnt going to be sold out, are also not going to the game themselves.

How about...instead of players making 50 million dollar contracts, they make 30 million dollar contracts. The org can then use that extra 20 mil to offset lower the cost of the damn tickets.

    hrmm
Oh, the populist "players make too much money" excuse.

Sure, the Spurs can lower payroll $20 million. Then you don't have to worry about failing to sell out WCF games, because the Spurs will have gone 29-53 and missed the playoffs in the first place.

But maybe they can play up-tempo.

It was probably a Ticketmaster snafu, but the excuse-mongering has been extremely funny.
What we've learned is that Thad and Tiffany out in Bulverde can't afford to go to Spurs games, unless they get free T-shirts and hot dogs, because once they buy their 50" plasma screen and put gas in their Hummer to haul it home, they can't afford clothing or food.
nah, thad and tiffany are headed over to todd and susie's to watch the game on todd's new hd plasma and for drinks. thad wouldn't mind if they were into swinging because he's had his eye on susie's tight little frame for some time now. in any event, it beats the drive to the at&t and sitting with the sweaty proletariat for 3 hours in 'club 200'.

And that makes them the worst fans in the league, because anywhere else, fans would kill to be in the actual arena.

not sure if this thought has been voiced yet (since I came to the discussion late) but I think this quandary is very simple.

People expected us to play the Mavericks if we made it to the WCF (or at least the Warriors), and now they're like wtf, this is gonna be boring. Bring on Detroit or Cleveland, because Dallas losing has become a sort of killjoy.

Even as dedicated Spurs fan, I saw the bill of Spurs-Jazz as both boring and worth skipping over in favor of Yanks-Sox, Mad Money or whatever else is on. The Jazz do not excite me at all, and sometimes its even painful to watch their games.

Are those seats the ones that didn't sell? How is this different from any other Spurs playoff run?Not really.
the tix were in 'club 200'.

Fees can be paid. All depends on the bottom line. If the owners think they'll do much better somewhere else, they'll move.
that fee would add about 20% more to the price of any exit for holt cat.

that's pathetic. because you know what? the players would like the arena to be sold out. they would like to know ppl care enough to go through the trouble of going to the arena to watch them live.

    biggest reason i can see...

    - the opponent this round.

higher ticket prices are an excuse, not the problem. if one was really excited, they'd find a way to come up with the scratch needed to get in the door.

not when todd could kick back on that brand new suede chair and ottoman susie picked up at restoration hardware while checking out susie's sweet little ass as she serves up limoncellos.

I can't go to the game I live 1300 miles away

but if the Spurs make it to the finals, yeah I'll go to at least one game. I have to ask for time off etc but I'm sure I can get it. Buy a plane ticket and buy an overpriced ticket, but I watching the Spurs play in the finals I can justify the jacked up ticket prices.

i'm not the one advocating their malaise towards the nba as the reason the spurs can't sell out a playoff game. just explaining why it's a bit much to expect them to climb up to row 25 in section 203 to sit next to jim bob and luann or raul and rosa for 3 hours.

Regardless of how much i love basketball and the spurs, i cannot justify neglecting other obligations to pay for every home game during the playoffs. Just cant do it. I guess that means im less of a fan than you.

I'm not cheap, I'm not a bandwagon fan. I'm broke. I can't afford the gas/parking/ticket to go to the games. Now, I do know A lot of people who won't buy tickets for this series are going to when the finals come and they can't get any. When my dad has season tickets I went to every game preaseason through playoffs. It sucks that spurs fans have gotten spoiled.

Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather watch from home than sit in the middle of the 200's.

Call me less of a fan if you want, but I have a better view from my couch than I do from the rafters. I can also get beer, food, etc. whenever I want. Somone's plastic beer cup is not 1 cm from the back of my head. Also, the general populace of SA is not exactly slim, so you end up feeling like you in the middle seat on a 3 hour flight, sitting between two lumberjacks.

nah, i said the lower middle class and working poor who traditionally sit in those seats have been priced out of the arena.

Those people haven't gone to Spurs games in any significant numbers since the old HemisFair came down.

One night, though, years ago, the Spurs did offer $5 tickets to the upper deck of the Alamodome. I-37 northbound was jammed up for hours.

those are 'the people' in the upper 'club 200'.
