I swear if I run into Holt I will kick his ass all around San Antonio.
I'll take it! I want Ralph Sampson... he's what 7'4" who cares if he's 50.
I swear if I run into Holt I will kick his ass all around San Antonio.
Iīm only waiting for the Scolaīs Contract
If itīs a contract of 10 millions 3 years is a bad trade
If itīs a contract of 15 million is a good trade because the spurs never are going to pay that money
After killing myself by reading clutchcity, one post actually made me laugh:
"Somewhere in China, while sitting down for tea and dim sum, Shane Battier just shed a tear."
Kind of reminds me of the Chuck Norris sayings.
Scola wouldn't sign with the Spurs period. He doesn't like their style of play, he didn't like what he heard about the city and he just didn't want to come over. They had to trade him.
Butler was gone. Pop doesn't like him.
It's funny, this might be the first trade in Spurs history that EVERYONE hates.
No fans on each side of it, EVERYONE hates it.
Butler lovers hate it because they got nothing for him and sent him to Houston.
Scola lovers hate it because they got nothing for him and sent him to Houston.
There are no winners among Spurs fandom, NONE.
And gets T PARK to drop a few dozen pounds.
and yet you still manage nothing for the spurs and pay none of their bills. even at it's worse, this is a trade of an overseas guy who didn't look like he was ever going to play for the spurs and a bench guy with loads of potential but not enough to warrant serious playing time despite some years in the league. at it's worse, it's the owner of the team making or saving some money, the year after his team wins the fourth le. holt is making millions off the spurs for a reason, part of which means sacrificing some things that they obviously thought they could.
Still beside the point. If Holt wasnt such a cheap as, Paxson would have given up Nocioni in a heart beat for Scola and Jackie and fillers. Heck, i would have liked our chances of getting more from then -- they are desperate for low post scoring, both of these two are PERFECT, absolutely perfect.
Eh, there's a handful of Pop/RC/Holtsuckers who are giving them props. I think they're all 12 and younger.
Toronto would happily have given a future 2nd for Scola, no doubt.
More than that knowing Colangelo's hornyness for Euro's
Could someone give me Holt's address so I can go whoop his ass already?
Why the would it matter whether I manage anything for the Spurs? Business is business. This was done not to make the product (the Spurs) better but to put a couple million more in Holt's pocket.
It's bull .
It doesn't matter if Butler wouldn't have gotten any playing time this year? Have you looked at our roster next year? Here, let me help you out:
Tim Duncan
Tony Parker
Manu Ginobili
Jacque Vaughn
Matt Bonner
We don't even have five starters under contract for next year, much less a bench, much less any big men that can do after Duncan. Can't wait to watch this team piss away another year of the Duncan era trying to teach seven new guys how to play in their system.![]()
but you know, i'm starting to wonder about all of that. the spurs obviously thought they had a talented guy overseas, and if they were like any of us, they saw impediment after impediment keeping him from arriving and so, if some rumors are to be believed, likely shopped him around a bit. yet this is what they got? i think we're giving ourselves too much credit for understanding this business and talent levels.
Remember when we traded for Charles Smith, but the Knicks didn't include his knees? What about dropping Elliott for Rodman?
We raenīt Spurs GMs, we are fans, we arenīt worry about the money
We want a great team, if the Spurs pays Luxury Tax isnīt my problem
Iīm a Scolaīs Fan too, and if this trade is good for Luis career iīm happy for that
But is a very very very very bad trade
In Total Points in Japan Scola was the Only player in the Top Ten of the max scorers who is not in the NBA and the most of the Top Ten in Total points are All stars
What about Vernon Maxwell for cash.
Maybe we're giving too much credit to an organization who passed on Josh Howard for nothing. The man to thank for Parker being a Spur is now in Seattle (and if Holt had his way Parker's Spurs career would already be over). Ginobili was a shot in the dark, no doubt made due to the insight of an intern which Buford subsequently Bogarted the credit from.
I just saw the "Scola to Houston...?" headline on hoopshype.com and that wave of nausea washed over me again.
Smith was a dumb trade and anyone who had a clue knew it at the time, but at least all they gave up was JR Reid and the eventual rights to John Wallace.
Sure, it cost them caproom for a couple of years, but they probably would have just ended up signing another Carl Herrera disaster.
And at least Rodman was a starter.
This trade is FAR WORSE.
This is the final turd in the punch bowl that will change board and fan opinion of this front office.
Hmmm...I don't know if this is Ted Stepien stupid.
Yet.
Personally, I wanted Scola out of here in the worst way. However, I thought that even the Spurs would get back more for his rights than they did.
I guess we'll never really know how Butler would have panned out. He seemed a bit lazy, but from all accounts was working hard and had some positive attributes. Again, I gave the Spurs too much credit. Never in my wildest dreams did I think the Spurs would have let him go for a song and a bag of magic beans.
Un"freakin"believable!
Butler just turned in a solid summerleague outing. In shape, committed, and ready to play.
