No I have it all right. The chips are falling perfectly in place for the Mavs 2008 championship. These guys have the heart of champions and I can wait for them to display it in the weeks to come!
T-Mac at the end of the game in response to Charles Barkely:
Win.

What game were you watching? The Mavs played with no heart at all tonight.
Whatever gets you through the night...![]()
True that... remind me of the cowboys this year against the giants
When they play with heart in the weeks to come, no one will remember this game.
That's the biggest crime of all. I didn't think we'd get this one because we're so dependent on Dirk, but there's no excuse for being out-hustled and out-desired. We needed a win in the worst way to get some breathing room between us and the Warriors/Nuggets, and they drop this turd.
Right or Wrong, I think Avery has got to go. He is clearly unable to reach these guys anymore.
Avery has got to stay. I am sorry but he is a great coach who is working out the kinks. Unless Phil Jackson, Pat Riley, Larry Brown or Coach Pop are on the market...Avery stays!
Cuban wouldn't let Avery trade dirk, so soon avery must go because even he knows you have to get inside to win and the mavs cannot do it.
You know, I've stuck up for Avery in the past. But now I'm starting to see the light. He is really being exposed and his animation does nothing to the players now because they are starting to see him as a joke. I wonder if the team started to give up on him when he sat Jason Kidd in the last :35 against San Antonio.
4-5 since the Kidd trade. Yeah, great ing acquisition. DAL is absolutely dominating like every Mavs fan in here said they would when Kidd got onboard:
<> Kidd is 3rd in the league in turnovers;
<> We've given up 100-ppg post-Kidd acquisition versus 96-ppg pre-Kidd;
<> Our backup to Damp is either the undersized Bass, the weakling pussy Dirk, or the out-of-shape Magloire who's slow and unathletic when he IS healthy;
<> All of our starters next season except for Howard will be 30 or older;
<> We've sold out our future at PG by dumping Harris who had improved in virtually every aspect each year since his rookie season and had an affordable contract;
<> We have 1 1st-rounder over the next 3 years;
<> We'll be tight against the cap next year even with guys like Stack coming off the books thanks to Kidd's ridiculous salary so good luck trying to find some decent backups. So basically combining this point with the prior 3, you realize this is the team we're going to have next year, only it'll be 1 year older and with worse depth.
Way to go Cuban and all the idiot Mavs fans in here who actually criticized people who dared opine that the Kidd trade was a bad one. Kudos.
He's not getting through to these guys. He's a good coach, but he's also a control-freak perfectionist. The average shelf life for a coach is three years. Avery's coming up on that, and he's the kind that grinds a team down in the Fratello/Skiles mode. I honestly believe that Jeff Van Gundy, Rick Carlisle and Larry Brown could do more with this team than he could and has. It's not completely on Avery because he wasn't on the floor, but there's also no denying that he was completely outcoached by Riley and Nellie. Say we pull it together enough to get a decent seed and advance to the second round. How do you feel about Avery matching wits with Phil Jackson?
hey suns troll.
I know I was against that trade as well as Findog. But what Mav fan was on here that was for the trade. I know there were a few. Several, I bet.
I was for the trade, and I still am. This team wouldn't be any better with Devin Harris or Diop. With the complete lack of effort on display, they could have traded for LeBron and still lost tonight.
The Mavs aren't dead yet, and they've got a better chance of a comeback with Jason Kidd than with Devin Harris.
The scary thing about the Rockets is this:
No Yao
No Francis
Battier said that Rockets haven't gotten Adleman's offense down yet. There is still a lot of new plays to learn and improvement to be made.
I don't think so. You guys traded speed for an aging pt guard who's best years are behind him. The only reason that Kidd put up monster numbers in NJ was because the system was more of a Euro system. Not so in Dallas. Not only that but you had a serviciable center position with Diop/Dampier. Now you have left all the center duties to Dampier.
You guys are screwed.
I wouldn't have done the deal, but once it completely fell apart initially, I felt that they had to go through with it for chemistry reasons. They obviously felt that this team wasn't going to get it done in the postseason with Devin Harris at PG, so standing pat with the status quo is not an option. I think this team can still get it together enough to maybe win a series, but that's about it. There's something deeply wrong with the chemistry and heart of this team after the trauma of the last two playoff exits, and bringing in Kidd was the first and hopefully not the last step in remedying and addressing that.
It looks like Donnie, Mark and Avery felt that they were once again headed for a disappointing anic in the playoffs, and they didn't want a third straight meltdown on their hands. I only wish they had made such a major change of course in the offseason when they would've had a training camp and 50 additional games to get this thing up and running. Changing on the fly like this in the middle of the season rarely works. Tweaking is one thing, but other than the Rockets trading for Clyde Drexler, when has a team made a major alteration mid-season and really prospered?
That is what this trade was about just as much X's and O's. You know, the Cavaliers can beat a championship-caliber team and make a Finals, come up short of winning the whole thing, and it's a breakthrough and nothing to be criticized for. And Dallas did the same thing, accomplished more than they ever had before in franchise history, and it's somehow a mark of shame.
The only thing the Mavericks should have done is Trade for a Big. By that I don't mean Shaq either. But had you guys gotten Emeka Okafor or Elton Brand, damn! Oh well...too late for that. You had all the speed and handling you needed at Pt. Guard and now it's blown.
The problem with Diop and Dampier is that they didn't give us enough points from the Center position. It was a fatal handicap against Golden State.
Well, maybe you guys can fix it in the offseason. I hear Zach Randolph and Jermaine O'Neal are looking for homes. Even Eddy Curry would be better than what you have now.
Not interested in either of those guys or their contracts. Our biggest asset for getting a back to the basket low-post scorer is Josh Howard and Devean George's Bird Rights.
Jermaine O'neal, maybe. Zach Randolph and Eddie Curry? NO!!!!!!!!
Rasheed Wallace in 2004.
But you're right, 9 times out of 10, these big trades at the deadline make for very little time to gel.
