Seems like it was last century when they won that BCS bowl game with fat Mangino

2016 CB Jared Mayden
Why do you say that?
Everything I have read suggests he is ready to move on with life after football.
@ Longhorn_FB: With Reed’s 3 sacks vs. WVU, #Longhorns only team in nation - 4 players with 4.5-plus sacks (Ridgeway-5.0; Brown-4.5; Edmond-4.5; Reed-4.5).
Awesome stat. Hope those defensive recruits realize the potential of future defenses.
CThat's a pretty big stage for a pretty inconsequential game.
Per Rivals, DE Charles Omenihu did take a visit to Arizona State over the weekend.
Would be shocked if UT made it.
Kid soured on Texas big time for some reason.
He wasn't very happy about the staff and their priorities. Every time he was in Austin he was with a GA and he never really founded a relationship with an actual coach.
I have seen some comments from him like that, but he had glowing reviews of UT after the Junior Day specifically. He was ready to commit.
Then things did a 180 this past summer and I don't think he's even mentioned UT since.
Yeah, he specifically mentioned the coaching of Vaughn/Bedford during a camp as a highlight...Mom liked Strong, etc.
Then the 180...not sure what happened in this one.
Here is Jared Maydens comments about excluding Texas when he released his top 10 back in July, from 24/7.
"Texas was my first offer, and I have a lot of respect for the program, but the only person still with the program who I really have a relationship with is grad assistant Ephraim Banda. I've been down to Austin several times since the new staff took over, but I just really don't have the bond or closeness with the new staff that I'm looking for in a potential future home."
Two quick notes...
-24/7 saying WR Ryan Newsome of Aledo is attempting to move his January official visit to December 5th. He has already taken four official visits, so UT will get his last one.
-OrangeBloods reporting LB Darrin Kirkland, Jr. of Indianapolis, IN has set up his UT official visit for December 5th.
Starting to look like this will be one of the big recruiting weekends Strong is setting up and it's exactly two weeks before LB Malik Jefferson makes his commitment.
TE Chris Clark of Avon, CT will also be in Austin that weekend.
CB and South Carolina commit Mark Fields has planned a visit to Texas either later this month or in December, per 24/7. He could visit for December 6th as well.
Here is a tweet by LB Darrin Kirkland from this weekend (when he visited Oklahoma). The third guy, OL Drew Richmond, is an Ole Miss commit who's still looking around. Richmond is the latest guy that Charlie Strong followed on Twitter. Maybe Texas is trying to get that "package deal"?
Interview with S Jamile Johson of Dallas South Oak Cliff:
Looks like Richmond followed Mike Giglio (Texas' recruiting coordinator) too.
Maybe he'll be in Austin with Newsome and Kirkland on December 5th.
