Mask up, social distance, get vaxxed or boosted, try to avoid lengthy spells in poorly ventilated areas, get tested promptly if exposed, isolate if infected.
None of that amounts to panic, all are reasonable precautions for an airborne pandemic roughly as contagious as measles.
Do you plan on doing those things for the rest of your life to avoid the sniffles?

Masking is a minor inconvenience, beats getting and spreading COVID for sure. Getting vaxxed and boosted, getting tested post known exposure and isolating if positive seem like no-brainers, maybe COVID shrunk yours.
As far as social distancing goes, when the risk is high, I'll avoid indoor gatherings as work and social obligation may permit, I've hardly been a hermit the last two years, I don't expect to be in the future either. I'm not the sort of person who takes every possible precaution, but I do take the ones that seen reasonable to me. My vigilance is admittedly imperfect, it yields as it inevitably must from time to time to the demands of work and social life.
A Corsi-Rosenthal box is definitely on the to-do list, easy and inexpensive to make, improves indoor air quality.
