gabriel jesus wasn't given a penaldo because he kicked the ball out looking for a penaldo. Also this is what you get when you flop so much as a team that the ref gets bored. Gabriel Jesus needs to go talk to Neymonkey about his blatant flopping if he wants the ref to start caring more about giving him a whistle.

Also Kane definitely got an easy penaldo but he was abused all night, this counts too.

I know you'll say rulebook stuff like "it should always be like it's written" but this is a game of brinksmanship and if a team overuses the refs good will (by being overly physical time and time again in the box or by ridiculously flopping like crazy) then don't be surprised if the interpretation of the rules varies. The ref doesn't just whistle, he whistles according to his interpretation. If a game is fragmented as by dirty (like colombia) then the ref will be more likely to give a big call to the victim team. If the game is polluted by obnoxious flopping then the ref will be reticent in giving a big call.

basics smh. stop the hypocrisy you can't have both excessive thugging/flopping and fair calls. If you antagonize the ref you get what you deserve. Nobody hates these teams personally, it's just that they have poor sportmanship which consistently puts them at a disadvantage in important situations. Boy cry wolf etc.

gabriel jesus nutmegged the defender, got around him cleanly and got to the ball first when the belgian defender slid at the ball, didnt touch it and hit his legs. He had way more control of the ball/scoring opportunity than mbappe did in the penalty against argentina.

Of course the ref has to intrepret the calls, but you have to have a standard and at least try to be consistent with it.
On one hand mbappe, already destabilized before reaching the box and with the ball 5-6 meters ahead and poor shooting angle is given a penalty for a push on the shoulder that impedes his movement (IMO, CORRECT CALL)

on one hand kane, who on further review Im almost certain actually tripped on the refs feet, pulls and jostles with the colombian defender who is making a concerted effort not to touch kane with his arms, the defender nearly falls and gets up while kane is falling and ends up on top of him (bad call, Kane initiated the contact and was falling well before sanchez even lifted his head- "colombians deserve it because of a pseudo head butt on a wall a little earlier")

Godin has his shorts pulled for about 3 meters while the defender behind him is pushing his shoulders down ("uruguay has a rep for rough play so no call")

and im the one making excuses? There is nothing to interpret there, clear as day penalties and now with VAR there is no excuse of "ref didnt see it"

son you need to compare context.
gabriel jesus penaldo happened in tough conditions (dead angle, late challenge where he searched for contact) only minutes after a massive neymar flop which got the ref annoyed because it was the Xth flop already. Brasil antagonized the ref and paid for it. Basic statistics, you decrease your chance at a penaldo if you annoy the ref.
kane on the other hand came in a game where he was fouled so much that it was a matter of time till the ref gave him a penaldo. Basic statistics again, you dangerously and physically mark a player in the box time and time again you're gonna get called on, maybe not on the worst challenge but you'll get called on.
godin went to france's box 2-3 times in a physical game. The contact was weak, godin is known as a strong player and hence no whistle.

Mbappe one is the only I agree with you, but in that game it didn't matter tbh. Argentina was losing anyway, the final score doesn't represent what happened on the pitch in terms of quality.


stop expecting perfection from the refs, look at the context and you'll see why these calls would've probably been the same had they happened on different occasions.
