I may be mistaken, but I think Shoogar either used to be or still is in the military as a doctor. He might know. From what my brother (who is only enlisted) tells me you would likely come in as an officer already and be given an abbreviated basic training. But that is Air Force, who knows with other branches. But Air Force is good in taht if you do get deployed, it would likely be under six months. He has been deployed twice to the desert and for only 3 and 4 months each time. Army and Marines, you can go over a year.

I have a friend who joined the Marines last year and he will be deployed to Iraq in 2007. I can't image what he is thinking knowing what is going on over there and knowing his ass will be shipped over there.
