    You imbecile...

Google Watt extension. Currently they have not begun to think of an extension, mainly bc they still have a lot of time. That comment wasn't to suggest he isn't a big piece of Houston.
I don't have to Google it you ing moron. They will get it wrapped up as soon as possible. All teams do this with players they consider to be part of the future of their franchise. Name a team that has "taken their time" when extending one of their franchise players. I'll wait.

Jesus christ you are one stupid . That comment had nothing to do with whether Watt getting a deal was in question. It was also not meant to minimize his importance to the Texans. Go back and re-read the exchange very slowly and then maybe your tiny, red neck brain will realize just how much of an imbecile you are tbh.

Once again...talking to you about anything is impossible. All you do is change the you say in mid debate. Every ing time.

None of this matters. Houston will draft Clowney and you will follow ball to whatever team drafts him and watch him fail on that team spectacularly. I guess the only good in all of this is it will be fun bumping all of these threads a few seasons from now.

I read just fine. Chinook already called you out for trying to change the parameters of the discussion and you just did it again with me.

    Go yourself.

I'm going to explain it real slowly for your braindead ass even though your response will be to tuck your tail between your legs and run.

1.Chinook mentioned Watt could get his contract this year, meaning there could be a 4-5(?) year gap between his and Clowneys deals.

    2. I brought up what I read, which was coming from the Texans themselves and had nothing to do with personal opinion. If they are not looking to give Watt a big deal right now and instead wait until they excercise the 5th year...then the gap between his and Clowneys contracts becomes 3 years.

    3. You are a Dunning-Kruger and your comprehension skills are . Now tuck and run, got.

BPA is easily the best strategy. you do that over the course of years and u have a stacked roster, instead of perpetually filling holes
Yup tbh. Holes change every year so it's better to just stack up the best talent on the team unless it wouldn't make sense (skins drafting a QB or OLB because it's BPA for example would be re ed). You don't wanna reach on a player just because it's a need

Yeah, you go BPA especially with the number 1 pick. If you pick Clowney and he busts, then it's understandable because there's not much separation at the top. But the upside is too good to pass on. I'd rather build a stacked D.

A three-year gap between contracts is huge, though. Big contracts usually have a cheap first half (as far as cap hits go) and then an expensive half. So long as Watt's expensive half coincides with either Clowney's rookie deal or the cheap half of his second contract, it's not really a big deal. Then "worst case" Watt gets a new deal when Clowney gets to his expensive half, and it keeps going.

There's definitely the possibility to minimize the overlapping if the Texans are creative with the contracts or restructure. But will note that Williams' jumps to $15.8 in just the second year, Peppers got $41 mill his first three years in Chicago, etc. I really don't see how it's something you don't consider.

    Started here...
Clowney is a freak but how long can you keep him and Watt together? Both of them will need to get paid eventually.
    Finished here...

I didn't look at Peppers' details. But I imagine the $41 Million is in cash, not cap hit. Like if he got a $100M/6 deal with $41M guaranteed and the same amount paid over three years, they could give him $5M in guaranteed base salaries, a $24M signing bonus and a $12M guaranteed second-year option bonus.

    Cap hits:

    Year 1 - $5M
    2 - $7.4M
    3 - $9.4M

Huge front-loaded deal with small early cap hits. Sure there are some contracts which are mainly flat (like Eugene Monroe's new deal or Revis' old deal with Tampa) and some that are cap-frontloaded (DeAngelo Williams' current contract), but that just reinforces why it's not hard to give out several big contracts and make them fit under the cap.

But I thought he was A&M's Vince Young

I guess other than the fact that he is a lot smarter, has a bigger arm, a more accurate arm, a quicker release and in general is a much better passer they are practically the same player.
