Thanks for noticing how efficient our offense has been. It's more apparent now than ever that that ankle surgery really did effect Newton last year. He has been unstoppable this year. He doesn't get the crazy stats because the way our offense is ran.

Our defense is pretty great. They've rallied this year without some pretty big pieces (Kuechly for 4 games, Star for 2, Charles Johnson for 7, etc.). They haven't closed out well, but really I think that's overrated because the games they struggled closing out were games against top offenses.

This team has so many weapons on defense it's ridiculous. There's literally a case for 7-8 players on that D to be in the PB
    .
That makes my point even more clear on how much Cam is doing for this team. The defense has had to deal with injuries all season which has affected the overall numbers. Sure the defense has been good, but the injuries earlier in the season took a toll on how dominant it could be. If it wasn't for Cam and the offense, this team wouldn't be 10-0.

    Injury report:
    Charles Tillman - doubtful
    Philly Brown - questionable

Charles Johnson will start opposite Jared Allen, but will be limited to 30 snaps. Ealy has played great, so it's just great to have CJ back. Norwell will come back after missing the past few games on the line.

    Key matches for the game:
    Dez Bryant vs. Josh Norman
Dallas OL vs. Carolina front 4
    Michael Oher vs. Greg Hardy
    Devin Funchess vs. Byron Jones

Players I have up and down for this week:
UP: Cam Newton, Jonathan Stewart, Greg Olsen
    DOWN: Michael Oher, Roman Harper

Tillman being out will hurt, CJ being back will help... at least they have Norman to limit Bryant and Terrace Williams is good but not great but look for the Cowboys to throw in that direction often today.

They'll finish the season 15-2, losing to the Giants in both the RS and the divisional round. Great season though, something to build on.

WOW. How great does this feel? The general consensus this year around Charlotte was this was going to be the year we were Super Bowl contenders and that this was going to be Newton's coming out year. I don't think anyone in Carolina expected this. After those years of 1-15 and 2-14, we deserve this. Savour it, we are truly witnessing history.

What makes this run so special and not feel like a fluke is the cir stances. So many injuries to this team. Benjamin out all year, Kuechly out 4 games, Charles Johnson out 7. We've had so many injuries just to overcome them.

It feels so great seeing this team develop as a team. They are all young and have been through it all together. In 2013 they were dominant, just too young and inexperienced. In 2014 injuries just derailed the team. The losing made this team grow up and understand they had to work. Losing Benjamin made Newton progress and have to go through reads to make better plays. He was good with his reads last year, but far too often he'd force-feed KB. Kuechly couldn't even guard a TE two years ago. He had two picks today. How in the has Thomas Davis gotten better with age? He hits like a 18 wheeler. That CB Josh Norman, the best corner in the league? Not even the most interceptions on our team. Kurt Coleman has 5.

Hopefully we can stay healthy, because at this point it's the most important aspect. 5 games left with a 2 game lead. Sounds pretty good.

    Well said tbh

Kuechly is 24 years old NLS... 24 years old, and IMO has surpassed Watt as the best defensive player in the league. A true franchise cornerstone on the otherside of the ball and we'll get to have him for years to come. He's become so goddamn smart about diagnosing plays he could probably be our defensive coordinator

There's so much talent on this team when you think about it. Cam/Greg/Kalil/Norwell/Turner/Kuechly/TD/KK/Star/CJ/Ealy/Josh/Bene/Coleman... this is by far our most stacked team, ever. And so many of those guys are young. We won't be able to keep all of them but with the way Gettleman has drafted and the staff has developed our players, it almost doesn't matter. KB will be back, Funch is coming on quick, Shaq is coming along nicely. There's such a bright future for this team. Hopefully we don't suffer any really bad injuries because for the first time I feel like we're in a position to compete for years to come unlike all the other eras where we couldn't string together back to back winning seasons.

Too bad Benjamin couldn't be back by playoffs time. And what a shame they dumped DeAngelo Williams.

It is looking like a 14-2 season with a 15-1 more realistic than a 13-3.

    Some good , N0 LyF3 ScRuB:

I was listening to an interview the other day with some professional gambler, I don't remember who. Talked about the infatuation with the Cardinals and other teams because of points scored per game but doesn't believe it's a meaningful stat and that casual fans get fooled by scoreboard numbers.

They said no one is talking about it but an extremely predictive long term forecasting stat is give/takeaway differential. Carolina leads the league at +16 right now and only three teams are even in the double digits. We're on pace to finish with 23-24. No team to win the Superbowl the last six seasons has finished with a smaller margin than +7, and the average is +11. Oh and right now Cardinals still have a net zero differential margin

Long term most books have Carolina with better odds than AZ: http://www.oddsshark.com/nfl/odds/futures

Cortland Finnegan will surely get his first test against New Orleans. They are going to throw, and throw often. Definitely am a bit concerned with Finnegan getting big minutes. Great in coverage (not necessarily on 1 on 1) - but he has a huge mouth and gets lots of penalties. Hopefully being in a great locker room will nix that.

Newton has struggled the past couple years in the Saints dome. That's definitely a concern. Although it should be stated that our offensive line last year was putrid in that game. I think Newton can nix this jinx.

I think it will come down to the wire with Carolina winning a close game. 30-27 on a Gano field goal as time expires.

I saw the turnover differential thing earlier, and good point out.

Our defense is playing SB-caliber level football. I'm a little worried about our offense (Ted Ginn is a known choker, Stewart needs to stay healthy), but I think we can take it all this year. I only worry of the Broncos, Cardinals, Pats. But I don't fear them. I think we can take them all.

Kuechly, while a beast, has not surpassed J.J. Watt as the best defensive player in the league. That's hyperbole. However, props to the Panthers for being the last remaining undefeated team. Can't knock that at all. Very good on D and the O has been surprisingly good.

Fam you gotta show some faith in the team, the 4th quarter collapses have been eradicated since the GB game. If we only win by 3 against the worst defense in the NFL there are serious problems. Remember 41-10 last year?

I think the division game is going to bring the best out of the Saints. Everyone thinks they are just going to lay down. Brees had his statistically his worst game ever last game. I think they play with fire. I still think we win.

Panthers vs Saints......good game.....Gotta say Panthers looking like contenders....Got to watch out for the hot Seattle SeaHawks though.....Peaking at the right time and we all know Russell Wilson is on a mission to head back to the Superbowl......

Bene Benwikere lost for the season with broken leg.

Might not mean much to outsiders looking in, but this is a huge loss for Carolina. Tillman says "we'll see" about playing next week. Looks like Finnegan will start at corner and Colin Jones at nickel against Eli and the Giants. Next man up, but we are vulnerable at that position.

We can get by in the playoffs with Norman/Peanut on the outside and CF in the slot. Definitely don't have any depth now though, and I imagine Gettleman will call someone off a practice squad.

No doubt about it the Panthers have a good chance to go all the way.
