you see, people who have a low propensity to process cognitive dissonance and struggle with emotional maturity tend to default to angry or aggressive when challenged to think laterally. (Ie: I don’t understand/your challenging my unilateral beliefs and this makes me confused/angry)

Given people with those types of inhibitors tend to be the same sort of people who would vote for Trump, it’s going to be the default response from about 90% of them.

That's happening on both sides tbh. Look at what happened when Ben Shapiro was going to speak at Berkley a couple weeks ago. They were even offering free counseling to students just because he was going to be there to speak.
