I really wish we’d make a move for a SF but I really doubt it happens. Only way is if somebody gets bought out on another team but I Doubt Pop would bring in somebody new and play him over the rest of the guys anyways lol
He does have a bad contract, and you're right, he isn't that good. He's also hurt.
But his contract isn't long. 27.2 in 19-20 and 28.5 in 20-21 and that's it. He perfectly aligns with the LMA-DeRozan contracts.
He might be one of the few gettable small forwards. He's not a defensive stopper, but on a team with Murray and White taking on scoring guards he wouldn't have to be Kawhi on defense. He's a very good spot up three point shooter.
It's hard to envision the Spurs being contenders with LMA-DDR as long as they don't have a legit SF sized player. Maybe they get one in the draft, but it could be awhile until that player is ready as most good SF prospects in the draft are 1-and-done or sop res and not mature, ready to contribute players like White, Hill, Splitter.

One thing White has done is turn a lot of people's attention from 'who to tank for in the draft' to 'who to trade for to improve'

Unlike most posters (Chinook was high on him early too), I was high on White long before it was popular.
I posted during the summer, before the season, that it was my belief White would be a primary contributor and one of our differene makers by the end of the season. I was wrong. He did it before the halfway point.

A little concerned about DeMar's offense; looks a bit disjointed perhaps because Lamarcus is taking the lead again but would like to see him attack the rim far more (like Harden). tbh it’s anybody in the West and Spurs have a shot if everything goes their way, everybody healthy, the planets aligned, etc. It’s wise to go all the way and take a shot at it. But I doubt Pops does it. He’s not impulsive and believes in long grind, pounding the rock lolespecially when Murray is coming next year, potential of Walker and Poeltl, etc. I’ve given up hope we bring new mid in the season.
