Not really. In every year in his career, opponents averaged less points when he's on the court compared to when he's off it. That's a pretty good track record as a defender.

he is below average on the boards for a Pf. 3.6 rpg in almost 18 mpg.
He is gonna have to do better tham that to solve the spurs lack of rebounding

Nice pickup. Ely could be a better overall player then Mbenga pre season injury version. Problem is we still got a great shotblocker in Diop and a rebounding monster in Dampier.
