RNC official: A Trump-Sanders debate would be 'phenomenal'

    By NOLAN D. MCCASKILL
    05/26/16 12:14 PM EDT

If a proposed debate between Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump were to take place, it would be “phenomenal,” Republican National Committee chief strategist and communications director Sean er said Thursday.

“I think it would be a phenomenal debate if it happened,” er told CNN.

The Vermont senator and Republican presidential nominee — by The Associated Press’ official delegate count — apparently agreed in principle by early Thursday to debate.

Trump told late-night host Jimmy Kimmel on Wednesday evening that he would be willing to debate Sanders if he agrees to allow proceeds from the event to go to charity.
“Game on,” Sanders tweeted minutes later. “I look forward to debating Donald Trump in California before the June 7 primary.”

er said the debate “would be a huge contrast” in which direction the country could go.

“The only thing that Bernie Sanders offers is another flavor of Ben and Jerry's ice cream,” er said (Ben & Jerry’s founder Ben Cohen unveiled the “Bernie’s Yearning” ice cream flavor in January). “It's a far-left socialist agenda, what he’s got, whether it's foreign policy — the way he wants to partner not with Israel, the destruction he would have with that relationship — our foreign policy, our domestic policy. I think it would be a massive contrast in the direction that this country could choose.”

er also knocked Hillary Clinton for refusing to agree to a Fox News debate with Sanders in California ahead of the state’s primary.

“The other thing that's odd, by the way, is that Hillary Clinton refuses to fulfill her promise to debate Bernie Sanders,” he said. “So there is a void because Hillary Clinton refuses to actually keep her word and do what she said and debate in California against Bernie Sanders.”

Sanders spokesman Michael Briggs told POLITICO on Thursday that the campaign wants the Sanders-Trump debate to happen.
Mitch you are so ing stupid. Your fascist is a pussy for backing out of the debate

Splits having a meltdown and can't comprehend the RNC-DNC rules

OK, but I dont know what she has to do with Bernie v Trump debate though.

Dont say you would debate a guy for charity and walk out on that. That's a ty thing to do.
She said if you run for office you should be willing to debate "any time and anywhere." You can't really defend her for that when the reason she won't debate is because she doesn't want to somehow screw up and give Bernie the 85% he needs in California, which is pretty damn impossible.

Trump isn't a great person, but he has no real reason to debate Bernie. He's probably wanted a conservative or central network to pony up for it, not a tech company or bob arum

bogus "strong man" macho, blatant BIGOT, XENOPHOBE, trying to intimidate the judiciary

Trump Goes On Insane Racist Rant Against American Born Trump U Case Judge

Republican nominee Donald Trump erupted for a racist rant against the American-born judge in the Trump University case and destroyed any chance that the GOP had of passing him off as anything less than a deranged, self-serving, racist.

    Trump said:

I have a judge who is a hater of Donald Trump, a hater. He’s a hater. His name is Gonzalo Curiel.

He is not doing the right thing. And I figure, what the ? Why not talk about it for two minutes?

We’re in front of a very hostile judge.

The judge was appointed by Barack Obama, federal judge.

Frankly, he should recuse himself because he’s given us ruling after ruling after ruling, negative, negative, negative.

What happens is the judge, who happens to be, we believe, Mexican, which is great. I think that’s fine.

I think Judge Curiel should be ashamed of himself.

    I’m telling you, this court system, judges in this court system, federal court;

they ought to look into Judge Curiel.

Because what Judge Curiel is doing is a total disgrace, OK?

But we’ll come back in November.

Wouldn’t that be wild if I’m president and I come back to do a civil case?

    Where everybody likes it.

    OK.

    This is called life, folks.

The judge was born in Indiana, not Mexico.

Consider for a moment that Republicans want voters to believe that this man, who seems to base judicial competence on whether not rulings are issued that favor him, is the person who the Republican Party wants voters to believe has the judgment needed to appoint Supreme Court justices.

Republicans Stunned After Trump Reveals That His Presidential Campaign Is Broke

When Donald Trump told Republicans that his campaign had money, it was a lie. In meeting with Senate Republicans, Trump's campaign privately admitted that they have no money and will not be able to run television ads until after the GOP convention in July

When Donald Trump told Republicans that his campaign had money, it was a lie.

In meeting with Senate Republicans, Trump’s campaign privately admitted that they have no money and will not be able to run television ads until after the GOP convention in July.
    The Washington Examiner reported:
Donald Trump’s campaign has alerted Senate Republicans that he won’t have much money to spend fending off attacks from Hillary Clinton over the next couple months.

The notice came when Paul Manafort, Trump’s senior advisor, met with a group of Senate Republican chiefs of staff for lunch last week, sources familiar with the meeting told the Washington Examiner.

The admission suggests that Trump will be far more dependent on the GOP brass for money than he has led voters to believe, but it’s consistent with his reliance on the Republican National Committee to provide a ground game in battleground states.

“They know that they’re not going to have enough money to be on TV in June and probably most of July, until they actually accept the nomination and get RNC funds, so they plan to just use earned media to compete on the airwaves,” one GOP source familiar with Manafort’s comments told the Examiner.
Trump is also refusing to use his own money to fund his campaign.

In other words, what Donald Trump is telling the voters is completely different from what is happening behind closed doors.

When Republicans nominated Trump, they thought that they were getting a billionaire who could help the party raise money while throwing his own cash into the pot for his White House bid.

What the GOP is stuck with is a deadbeat who talks a good game that they are going to have to fund in the general election because he is either unwilling or unable to pull his own weight.

Donald Trump’s wealth appears to be a myth, and it is obvious that Trump is using the Republican Party to build his cult of personality. Donald Trump has no intention of giving anything back Republicans.

What you're saying doesn't make sense.

You plan accordingly with debates. Had this being a close race then she would debate him. But she's like 300 pledge delegates ahead so the outcome of California won't matter either way.

I still think she should have done the debate but the reasoning isn't ilogical imo.

As for Trump, Fox also would have pony up the money.

Sources with knowledge of the situation told Variety that CBS News and Fox News have been in contact with the campaigns about a possible debate. A Fox News spokesperson confirmed that the network has been involved in talks. Meanwhile, a spokesperson for ABC News told Variety, “I can tell you we’re always interested in more opportunities to hear from the candidates.”
Fox News originally floated the idea of a Trump-sanders debate in March. The New York Times reported at the time that the cable network had nearly drawn the two candidates together for what ended up being a town-hall event with Sanders and Clinton moderated by Bret Baier.
If what he was looking for was a heavy right leaning network than it doesn't get more conservative than Fox.

Just admit it big guy. Trump was scared less of facing big Bernie.

The thing is, Neither are winning without Super Delegates so it will be a contested convention. If Bernie comes out ahead in California then the first ballot might not be as clear cut as it seems. So why won't Hillary follow her own advice and do a debate?

Also I don't think Fox was going to pony up 10-15m that Trump wanted. When Trump said he'll do the debate, he said it would have to be for at least 10m. Got any sources confirming a network willing to fork over the cash for charity?

I'm sure if Trump would have really been serious, these networks would have done it. Trump found every excuse in the book to back out.

This thing is as good as done on the dem side. She only needs like 80 regular delegates to push her through with the superdelegates. There won't be a contested convention when a candidate has the popular vote, the most pledge delegates and the most superdelegates. Just won't happen.

Sanders can cry and whine all he wants but he's not getting the nomination. It's pretty asinine to go against the people. For as bad as Hillary is, she has gotten way more votes than him.

I really don't think they'd fork over 10m for the debate, Trump has demanded the networks to give some to charity often since they make so much cash off of his antics.

There will be a contested convention, but probably not a brokered convention. Contested means nobody has the pledged delegates, supers can vote wherever they want.

Anyways, going to be something else watching the dumpster fire of the democrat convention. There's already an occupy movement by the bernie people

Dilbert creator: ‘Crazy clown’ Trump has fooled voters into thinking he’s qualified to be president

Explaining that he is a trained hypnotist, Adams said he noticed Trump using persuasive techniques on audiences last summer before adding, “I thought, ‘Oh my god, he’s not a crazy clown.’

Everything he’s doing — including his ignoring of the facts — is persuasion perfection.”

“I called him to be the landslide winner in the general election last year, because the tools he’s using — essentially he’s taking a flamethrower to a stick fight — there’s nobody using the same tools he’s using,” Adams explained.

“So his complete destroying of facts is part of the persuasion because he doesn’t give you targets, he doesn’t give you details of his policies usually. So he’s reducing the number of targets while making you feel good and focus on the things he wants.”

The host and guest went on to discuss how Trump has “branded” rivals with nicknames such as “Liar Ted Cruz” and “Corrupt Hillary Clinton,” simplifying his message for audiences more interested in insults instead of facts or details.

Sarah Palin Invents Bizarre Nickname for Trump

Apparently she means it as a compliment.

Where does one begin when a major party nominee comes out and tells Californians that the drought they have been experiencing for several years does not exist? One place is with the woman who, if she did not start the march toward our current idiocracy, greatly accelerated it and continues to pour gasoline on its tinder pile. Sarah Palin was making the rounds for Trump this week, warming up the crowds, spewing what can only be described as some of the most moronic batsh*t the world has ever heard, with the possible exception of words uttered by the man himself.

Here are five absurdly evil moments from the rightward flank this week.

    1. Sarah Palin says a series of insane things, so vote for her boy Trump!

Sarah Palin showed up in San Diego to give a series of bizarre and borderline incoherent speeches on behalf of Donald Trump.

In these speeches, she dubbed Trump the “golden wrecking ball,” which she apparently thinks is a good thing.

Tossing a word salad as only she can, Palin said Trump is now “we the people’s nominee.”

    Yee hah!

To drive her point home, she added, “Suck it up, cupcake!”—whoever cupcake might be.

More spoken word poetry from Palin:

“Trump came roaring in through this primary, and he blew the lid off the corrupted and corroded machine. (sez the grifter par excellance)

He was like a golden wrecking ball.

He wrecked what needed to be wrecked in order to shine light on the shenanigans, in order to allow us to rebuild because, see, Trump builds things.

    He builds big things.

And with optimism. And with common sense. He solves problems!”

The speech led the folks on Morning Joe to wonder if Palin had taken “some bad acid.”

Proving once again that she is not merely laughable but deeply disgusting, in another speech in San Diego warming up for Trump, Palin criticized President Obama for going to Hiroshima this week, calling his visit an “apology lap.”

“You mess with our freedom,” Palin bellowed, “we’ll put a boot in your ass. It’s the American way.”

The crowd lapped it up, chanting, “USA! USA! USA!”

Sessions claims credibility on Hispanic, African-American voters

Sessions] is predicting presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump will attract black and Hispanic voters in the general election.

“Donald Trump is going to do better with Hispanics and African Americans, I am convinced, because he’s talking about things that will really make their wages go up,” Sessions said during a recent interview in his Capitol Hill office with The Daily Caller.

The senator didn’t specify what “better” might entail – he presumably meant stronger support than Mitt Romney received in 2012 – but it almost certainly doesn’t matter. By basing so much of his campaign on racial animus, Trump has gone to extraordinary lengths to alienate voters from minority communities.

Romney won 27% of the Latino vote four years ago and 6% of the African-American vote. There is very little evidence to suggest Trump will “do better” than this performance in the fall.

But what struck me as especially interesting about this wasn’t just the message, but also the messenger.

As we discussed earlier in the year, the New Republic published a piece in 2002 on Sessions’ background, which included a stint as a U.S. Attorney, when his most notable prosecution targeted three civil rights workers, including a former aide to Martin Luther King Jr., on trumped up charges of voter fraud.

The piece added that Sessions, during his career in Alabama, called the NAACP “un-American” because, among other groups, it “forced civil rights down the throats of people.”

A former career Justice Department official who worked with Sessions recalled an instance in which he referred to a white attorney as a “disgrace to his race” for litigating voting rights cases on behalf of African Americans. Sessions later acknowledged having made many of the controversial remarks attributed to him, but he claimed to have been joking.

What’s more, Thomas Figures, a former assistant U.S. Attorney in Alabama and an African American, later explained that during a 1981 murder investigation involving the Ku Klux Klan, Sessions was heard by several colleagues commenting that he “used to think they [the Klan] were OK” until he found out some of them were “pot smokers.”

Sessions once again acknowledged making the remark, but once again claimed to have been kidding. Figures also remembered having heard Sessions call him “boy,” and once warned him to “be careful what you say to white folks.”

When the Reagan administration nominated Sessions for the federal bench in 1986, the Senate rejected him because of his controversial record on race.

But in 2016, Jeff Sessions is so “convinced” he has his finger on the pulse of the electorate that he’s willing to predict increased Hispanic and African-American support for the controversial Republican nominee.
