4. Letting go (of Clinton’s emails) is hard.
Few would disagree that Mr. Flynn’s falsehoods or Russia’s meddling are important.
But for some Republicans, the alpha and omega of any congressional hearing is Mrs. Clinton’s use of a private email server while serving as secretary of state.
In the midst of all of the talk of Russia and Ms. Yates’s warnings about Mr. Flynn,
Senator Ted Cruz of Texas,a former Republican presidential candidate, steered the hearing toward the email issue.
He asked Mr. Clapper what he would do if, hypothetically, his employee forwarded emails containing classified information.
The question was a thinly veiled reference to Huma Abedin, an aide to Mrs. Clinton, forwarding emails containing classified information to her husband, Anthony D. Weiner, a former New York representative.
Mr. Comey said Ms. Abedin forwarded the messages for Mr. Weiner to print for her to give to Mrs. Clinton.
Several current and former government officials familiar with the investigation into Mrs. Clinton’s handling of delicate information said that while some emails had been forwarded, a vast majority were instead backed up to Mr. Weiner’s computer.
Mr. Clapper did his best to keep on his game face — and to stick to the hypotheticals.
“It raises all kinds of potential security concerns, again depending on the content of the email, what the intent was, a whole bunch of variables here would have to be considered,” Mr. Clapper said. “But given a hypothetical scenario, I’d be quite concerned.”

no Benghazi?
CNN’s Wolf Blitzer on Monday praised former acting Attorney General Sally Yates over her testy exchange with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), noting she “basically crushed him” when he tried to corner her on Donald Trump’s Muslim ban.
During Yates’ testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Cruz tried confront Yates over her refusal to defend Trump’s immigration ban. Yates’ memo to the Department of Justice led to her dramatic firing by the president back in February.
Cruz on Monday brought up the
“binding statutory authority for the executive order that you refused to implement that lead to your termination,”
asking Yates if she was familiar with the power vested in the president by that statute.
Yates, nailed Cruz for his line of questioning, explaining she refused to defend the ban out of “Cons utional concerns.”
Speaking about Cruz and Yates’ back and forth, Blitzer argued Yates “basically crushed him.”

WHY DONALD TRUMP IS SCARED OF SALLY YATES
It should be “counsel,” not “council,” as Trump apparently realized, making that correction two hours later. But the president’s inability to spell correctly is a quibble compared to his ignorance of Civics 101.
One of the main reasons we have congressional committees is to act as a check on the powers of the executive branch.
It isn’t the president’s place to interfere with congressional proceedings by using his electronic bully pulpit to propose his own questions and impugn the credibility of witnesses.
After all, he has plenty of his own investigative toys to play with. If he thinks that classified information has been leaked, he can call Jeff Sessions, the current attorney general.
If he wants the public to know the full story of Michael Flynn, he can order the declassification of Flynn’s personnel records as well as records of Flynn’s reportedly extensive contacts with Sergey Kislyak, the Russian ambassador.
Instead, Trump has decided to disrespect the independence of a separate branch of government.
This isn’t the first time he’s taken such an approach.
In March, he tweeted this in the midst of FBI Director Jim Comey’s testimony to the House Intelligence Committee:

No reasonable person expects the Repug Congress to respect the separation of powers, to exercise "checks and balances" on the (Repug) Exec.

Reminder: Manafort got the GOP to change their party platform to be more Russia-friendly
During the convention, the Republican Party argued over whether they should back Ukraine, which was invaded by Russia in 2014. However, those top Trump aides mandated that the GOP take the side of Russia in the Ukraine-Russia battle. Suddenly, the Republican Party focused on the “friendship” between the U.S. and Russia.
“Today, the post-Cold War ideal of a ‘Europe whole and free’ is being severely tested by Russia’s ongoing military aggression in Ukraine,” read the proposed amendment to the Republican Party Platform, according to The Washington Post. “The Ukrainian people deserve our admiration and support in their struggle.”
Trump’s aides watered down the amendment proposed by Ted Cruz supporter Diana Denman.
“I was troubled when they put aside my amendment and then watered it down,” Denman told The Post. “I said, ‘What is your problem with a country that wants to remain free?’ It seems like a simple thing.”
Instead, Trump’s staffers wrote an amendment changing the call for “providing lethal defensive weapons” to “appropriate assistance.” It was voted on and passed and the GOP released a platform that put their own elected officials in conflict with the party’s national platform.
“This is another example of Trump being out of step with GOP leadership and the mainstream in a way that shows he would be dangerous for America and the world,” another platform committee member noted.
Just 10 days after the event wrapped, the New York Times outlined the history of Russia and Paul Manafort, the former campaign chair to President Donald Trump.
“President Viktor F. Yanukovych, who owed his election to, as an American diplomat put it, an ‘extreme makeover’ Mr. Manafort oversaw, bolted the country in the face of violent street protests,” The Times read. “He found sanctuary in Russia and never returned, as his patron, President Vladimir V. Putin, proceeded to dismember Ukraine, annexing Crimea and fomenting a war in two other provinces that continues”
It wasn’t long before Manafort’s past caught up and caused so much anxiety that he was forced to resign.

Manafort, like Flynn, was compromised by Pootin's $Ms. Trash equally compromised by Pootin's $Ms, as both of his sons have said over over the years.
And now Trash's in-laws are pandering to get Chinese $Ms into their real estate projects with resident visas approved by Trash.
