That could affect Texas. Applewhite an early candidate for the Arkansas State opening along with Texas A&M offensive coordinator, Kliff Kingsbury. Louisiana Tech is another job to watch out for when discussing Applewhite's future.
It looks like Auburn is going to hire Gus Malzahn as HC.

24/7 reporting that OL Caleb Benenoch is not expected to officially visit Texas this weekend for banquet. Baylor is now thought to be his pick and the Texas staff has supposedly had limited communication with him in recent weeks.

Per OrangeBloods, JUCO QB Nick Marshall of Gardner City CC in Gardner City, KS is another prospect the staff is looking at. He's originally from Georgia and was a record-setting high school QB, but signed with UGA as a DB and later transferred after being dismissed from the team due to theft charges. In 10 games for Gardner City CC this year, he had 2,800+ yards through the air and almost 1,000 on the ground. Highlights below...if you look at the second link, that might be Bryan Harsin in the end zone at the 2:20 mark.

To add to the post above, 24/7 reporting a third JUCO QB is being evaluated.
Good instincts Floss. Massington apparently got injured while at a Tennessee camp and that did not bode well with USC; they apparently encouraged him to move on.
As much as I dislike Kiffin, I would've been pissed if one my commits had a season-ending knee injury at another school's camp.
Mike Gundy reportedly offered the Tennessee job:

Just a reminder that Darrell Wyatt is in Florida today to see WR James Clark.
OrangeBloods saying that Oscar Giles is also in Florida to visit JUCO LB De'Vondre Campbell in his hometown.
For those wondering about WR Eldridge Massington since he de-committed from USC, he told 24/7 that he has not heard from Texas lately and also that "they're not really school I'm interested in anymore."
FYI that JUCO OL Desmond Harrison of Contra Costa CC was offered by Alabama this past weekend. He'll have one remaining official visit to take after he sees UT. He's narrowed it down to Alabama, Texas Tech and USC. It's been reported that he'll spend Christmas break with his mother in North Carolina and he should be making a decision by the end of the year. His mother and brother will be in Austin with him this weekend.
Two quick notes from 24/7...
-JUCO DE Za'Darius Smith is still expected to be in Austin this weekend for an official visit. His teammate, JUCO S Shaquille Fluker, will not be in town according to a staff member at East Mississippi CC. Bo Davis is supposed to be in that area of the country today.
-There should be at least one surprise visitor for banquet this weekend.
RSJ?! I don't think so, but I will keep hoping until it will be known who it is.
Any word out there that Fluker will visit another day?
Justin manning?
I'm pretty comfortable saying it's not RSJ or Manning.
No mention of Fluker visiting in the future, but things change from day to day with these guy and he still may visit. He's pretty dead set on Georgia if he can get those credits to transfer from East Mississippi.
Mike Gundy to stay at OK State:

According to 24/7 the coaches has reached out to '14 QB Foster Sawyer out of All Saints Episcopal in Forth Worth (teammate of '14 commitments Daniel Gresham and Demetrius Knox).
I'm not a subscriber, so I cannot see who else they have reached out to.
Manning is announcing tomorrow. Most think it will be OU but don't sleep on A&M here.
Our receiving class is just insane for 2013 but RSJ will join the Aggies as well IMO.
Was hoping it was Robbie Rhodes.
edit: In reference to the "surprise" guest
It was mainly just a rundown on where the coaches have visited this week. Nothing on Sawyer other than Darrell Wyatt is taking his film back to Austin. The following are some other stops made:
Chambers = 2014 CB Nick Watkins
Wyatt = 2014 DE Solomon Thomas
Akina = 2014 DE Derick Roberson
Giles = 2014 RB Donald Catalon
Kid could have picked wherever he wanted this summer but chose the waiting game and A&M and UT both stopped recruiting him. Should have committed earlier.
I'm hoping Texas has a good feel with both Billings and Harrison.
Benenoch is scheduled to commit on Monday at 11:30 a.m. I think it's Baylor with his brother being there.
All he's been tweeting about recently is Baylor or UCLA. DesignatedT is right, Benenoch has been dragging this out way too long.
Manning never got over getting his feelings hurt by OU not being amongst first offers. Still, I'd be shocked if he goes anywhere but OU.
Now RSJ, I'm 99% convinced he is an ag lock and that comes directly from HS level from players that know him. Which pains me because I've seen him in person post de-commitment and he is more impressive live. Those that say he cannot be a star WR and will turn to TE or DE are not looking closely enough. Top player in state no question. I will always wonder what happened to this recruitment.
