How about 2001? Namewise, not successwise hehe... Probably we had one of the worst teams in 2007, and would've been in the semifinals if not for choking.
No it's not and I wish everyone would stop saying that.
I think that Belgrade 2005 team was better. We missed Beno, but we had Sani, Rasho and Milič.
Čapin & Joksimovič combined are a good subs ute for Dragič.
Jurak & Maravič are better or the same as Golemac & Vidmar.
Everyone else from this year's team (except Samo Udrih, Domen Lorbek and Jagodnik, but they are scrubs anyway) was on the 2005 team as well.
I'd take Sani instead of Beno and Milič instead of Golemac. I'd even take Rasho instead of Smodiš and his permanent back problems.

Exactly. All our teams so far were very similar as far as talent and depth goes. Same goes for this year's team. Nothing special about it.

Those guys in 05 were still young. Slokar and E.Lorbek weren't that good. Jurak, Čapin and Maravič were bad. Just like S.Udrih, D.Lorbek and Jagodnik now. Zdovc could call Joksimovič who is 10X better that ing Klobučar and D.Lorbek, but he's just stupid, and he rather takes Olimpija's guy of the bench then one of better SG in NLB.
You can have 10 superstars, but if you've got a stupid coach it doesn't matter.

You don't need 12 superstars. Look at Spaniards. You need a good backbone and good supporting stuff.
Our backbone should be Beno, Smodis, Rasho.
Reality is that we don't have Rasho, we don't have Smodis and we have half hearted Beno.
We have great backups in E. Lorbek and Dragic, but it looks like our backups will be forced to take main roles. And now we're in trouble. With our backups taking main toles, we don't have great backups any more, just solid. Now we are not a great team any more, but again we are just a solid team without that...something more. But even then it would be possible to get a good result, it those players would pull in the same direction.
And once again we are hearing about fighting, bad atmosphere, about me first at ude and all that same crap we were hearing in the past.
KZS did everything in their power to provide this "assholes" with everything they wished for. And again it looks like it's not enough.
To me it's perfectly clear, never again call this Mofos under the national flag.
I'd rather watch Jagodnik, Jurak, Maravic, Zupan, Drobnjak and guys like them to leave their hears on the floor, even they don't have talent, then to watch those spoiled self centered morons that think that world exists because of them.

He did hurt his knee a little while ago so I'm not sure how much that had to do with him being cut but still, that's pretty pathetic. I hope Morrison gets PT over Sasha next year.
But it's also true that Vujacic missed most a lot of the time with the team, if not for injury things might have been different.
Right, he really sucked. Did nothing, except basically got us to the world championship.Jurak, Čapin and Maravič were bad.
He missed a lot of practice because of it.
I think the team missed my being in the thread. They'll rally now that I am home.
And for the record, my husband is a fan of Rasho and therefore supports the Slovenia NT. Bo has owned his own of Rasho's national team jersey since before we met and began dating.
WTF is with these posts? Have any of you seen Sasha actually play? He SUCKS.
Yea I know that he SUCKS, but he was still injured like one week ago. Coach should give him another chance, but no. If our coach was Greece team coach you would go insane.
We should try one tournament without coach. any of them.

Yes it is, It is not just bad it is a disaster.
Shooting percentage? Is this the argument after parade of bricks thrown against GB? GB played tight zone and none of our perimeter player was able to hit from open(!) position. What is shooting percentage of Nachbar, Lakovič?
Is S. Udrih really better than Vujačič? Is he a player who could be one of backbones of NT for next decade?
Zdovc's arguments are plain stupid. Is Smodiš better prepared for games in Poland than Vujačič? No, so why he wasn't kicked?

Reality:
Smodis won't play. Everybody in the right mind knows that.
But we also know the reason why Zdovc doesn't announce it. Reason is very simple. There is some big marketing behind this whole operation. Items to sell, people to convince to buy tickets and arrangements for Poland. Euphoria is in full affect.
This generation of players is lost forever and we will have to except that.
I'm not saying that few of this players won't get a call in the future, but with this guys...too many tries and too many failures. Put a fork in them, they are done!

What a dumbass move by Zdovc. They were trying to get him to play for our NT for years, and when he finally comes in Zdovc cuts him from the team. Seriouslly what the f... is that?
We all know he didn't play well in Spain, and had a dreadful season-- but you just don't go and alienate a talented player, who could have produced ( and who showed he can be pretty effective in the past when not injured) in the future for us. Zdovc banned him from the NT for life now.

Really, i decided to hold my judgment about the whole thing until i hear the other side (Sasha), which may mean forever.

I don't believe this reporter speaks out of his ass but knows a lot of things in the background and from the lockerroom.
