I'm not against it being taught. We differ in how much priority it should take. Slavery is a regional matter. I doubt in other parts of the USA they focus on the mistreatment of Mexican and Asian Americans, like they do here.
I meant to say demographics that are directly effected by the slavery that occurred. Not only are the Black & White populations decreasing but a significant portion are 1st or 2nd generation immigrants. Personally I'm more interested in the European-American experience than slavery. Asians, Latinos and Arabs have their own interests.
