Yeah, I would stay away from Mizuno, they all have very short life spans. I'm telling you this and I have two. I had a Envy and then read all the bad reviews, and traded it for another Mizuno a Classic. It was suppose to last long, but it cracked on me at the last game. I only hit the damn thing about 150 times.

    These bats are good.

I ended up getting a 34/26oz Envy...and a 34/30oz DeMarini for an exceptionally good deal. And considering I paid no where near retail for either, they are not open for criticism. They are a very large step up from the 29/22oz Worth we've been playing with.

I also got some little throw-bases so we don't have to use whatever is laying around.

    So, let's get it on.

I figure if we split the damage between 2 bats they'll last a little longer. The poor little Worth has been abused.

I'm dying to break these in, though.

Thanks a bunch Christy. Really awesome of you.

I think that we have a enough players that we could just bring a couple of friends, and maybe get a 10 on 10 game going. We'd have to find 5 girls, but I don't see that as a problem. I keep trying to get my HEB team to play, but they haven't given me the go ahead to schedule one yet.

We should look into getting some friends to mix in with us and we could split into teams of 10. Get some real game action going.

Again jcrod is criticizing/recommending equipment for a team he isn't playing in. Classic.

We were actually all laughing yesterday about the time you told us we all needed cleats, $75-100 gloves, $200 bats, etc.

    2006 Mizuno Envy 98mph
    ASA Approved 34" 26, 27, 28, 29 and 30oz

    Envy

My Own Personal Review of the Mizuno Envy

Mizuno has rebounded nicely from a nearly fatal mistake of releasing a sub par performing blur early in the season. Dont get me wrong, the BLUR wasnt by any means a terrible bat, it just wasnt anything near what the Crush or even Fury/Rage were... The new Envy is everything you would expect from the makers of the crush, and will definately be one of the top selling bats of the new year. It has a great feel, and is amazingly endloaded for an ASA bat... I had no trouble swinging the 27oz bat after swinging my b1 27oz EL for over 4 months... The switch was simple and only took about 4-5 swings to get used to the new bat... The envy has to be broken in, so please give it at least 200 swings before you judge it... Anything before then and you wont be seeing its true performance. This bat is great for all compression balls, as we tested it with .40 375, .44 375, .44 525, .47 525, and even .50 525 balls... It hit them all very well, and was performing even with the crappy .40 cor's... My test model has approx 500 swings on it with no signs of any dents, cracks or other failure. I would say if your looking for a top tier bat, but dont want to spend $300+, then the $249 Envy is the bat for you!

I read another review that it scored over 90 on a 1-100 scale on everything from durability to style....but sound got like a 77 or 80 or something...and why does sound matter?

All of those bats brand new have a 12 month warranty...so if it got messed up after 150 hits, it was defective and should be sent back. We do more than that one time at the batting cages.

After a departure from its Techfire style of bats to build 2004’s 100% composite Blur, Mizuno has returned to the design that made 2003’s Crush the company’s most successful softball bat ever. The 2005 Envy is similar in many ways to the Crush – the 12-inch barrel, thin handle and balanced weighting – with a couple of technological improvements such as the Filament Wound Composite Pipe to replace the aluminum sleeve in the barrel and an expanded Sweet Area to magnify the traditional Techfire sweet spot.

It did not take a lot of swings for our hitters to agree that Mizuno had done what it set out to do with this bat – improve on the still-popular Crush model.

“I think this bat swings better than any of the previous Techfires,” said one reviewer. “It has good pop and good balance. This is one of the better bats you are going to get for the price.”

That is a fair statement as the reviewer being quoted hit a number of low compression balls (.44/375) over of the 350-foot fence at the baseball field we were testing on in 100-degree heat.

The Envy is a great bat across the board – it has a solid feel and swings true to its posted weight, perhaps a bit heavier than other 100% composite bats. The 12-inch barrel has plenty of sweet spot so it doesn’t take long to find it or to get comfortable hitting it. How much the advertised “expanded Sweet Area” helps can’t really be measured, but no one had trouble finding it, not even the guys who hit it right out of the wrapper. The pop is very good, but it is also an effective bat for moving the ball around and hitting hard shots in the 5-6 and 3-4 holes.

For these reasons, all types of hitters liked the bat. Power hitters got plenty of distance. Line drive hitters could push the ball or turn on it into the corner and quickly developed the confidence to do so. There is no sting at all, though balls caught on the end of the barrel sound horrible (even though they don’t really hurt either).

The Envy is is ideal for all types of hitters.

One note: the Envy is designed for use in ASA, but it seems to compete with many other companies’ USSSA-only bats which are not allowed in ASA. It tested well side-by-side with some of the 2005 models.

Apparently from what I've read on those forums, the bat is bad ass but the lighter (26-28 oz) crack easier than the 30 oz ones. I'm psyched to take a few with that bat. I'm sure Kris and Chris will be going yard with it.

The Envy is the 26oz I got ... which is still 4oz heavier and 5 inches longer than the one we've been using. The 30oz is the DeMarini...not quite as pricy as the Mizuno but it's not crap either.
