    starvation and malnutrition are widespread

Maynard said that severe malnutrition has been contributing to preventable deaths among Palestinians receiving surgery. “The malnutrition I’m seeing here is indescribably bad. It’s much, much worse now than a year ago,” he said.

“The repairs that we carry out fall to pieces, patients get terrible infections, and they die. I have never had so many patients die because they can’t get enough food to recover,” he added.

Babies have been starving to death in Gaza due to Israeli restrictions on baby formula, as malnourished mothers cannot produce breast milk. Maynard said that the Nasser Hospital is also running out of intravenous liquid fluids used to treat severely malnourished children and that four infants died of malnutrition at the hospital last week.

The Holy Family Church, the only Catholic Church in Gaza, was struck by a raid this morning, resulting in three deaths and several injuries, including the Parish priest, Father Gabriel Romanelli. In a statement, the Latin Patriarchate in Jerusalem appeals to leaders "to raise their voices and to do all that is necessary in order to stop this tragedy which is humanly and morally unjustified."

this is recalled by heart, but I think that the headcount of Christians in Gaza at the outbreak was somewhere around 1000, mainly Greek Orthodox after a quick search

Copilot wants me to say there were about 150 Roman Catholics in Gaza in Oct 2023, but it's a sh!te source

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said his country "deeply regrets that a stray ammunition" hit Gaza's only Catholic Church, killing three people sheltering there.

"Every innocent life lost is a tragedy. We share the grief of the families and the faithful,"he said in a statement.

The incident happened on Thursday when an Israeli strike hit the Holy Family Church in Gaza City. Several people were also injured, said the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem which oversees the small parish.

Pope Leo XIV said he was "deeply saddened to learn of the loss of life and injury", renewing his call for a Gaza ceasefire.

In his statement, Netanyahu said Israel was "investigating the incident and remains committed to protecting civilians and holy sites".

Oh yeah, IDF has already sniped and bombed the parishioners there

As of 2025, estimates of the Christian population in Gaza range from approximately 600 to 1,000. Specific figures vary across sources:

A March 2025 report indicates the Christian population has dwindled to around 700, down from 1,100 before the ongoing conflict, with many seeking refuge in churches like the Holy Family Church, Saint Porphyrius Church, and the Baptist Church.english.wafa.ps
Another source from April 2025 suggests fewer than 1,400 Christians remain, with the number of Catholics being even smaller.cnn.com
A December 2024 estimate places the population at around 1,000, though hundreds have reportedly left for Egypt, Canada, and Australia since the war began.nytimes.com
A source citing a 2024 figure mentions about 800 Christians remaining in Gaza, down from 1,100 in 2022.jordantimes.com
These numbers reflect the ongoing decline due to conflict, displacement, and emigration, with no single precise figure for 2025. The range of 600 to 1,000 is the most consistent across recent reports.

The Trump phase of Gaza ethnic cleansing/genocide is well under way

“An estimated 900 people have been reported killed while waiting for food distribution in Gaza since the end of May. Most of those were killed in the vicinity of the GHF sites.”

    Gideon Levy in Ha'aretz

Saying stuff like this in the US gets you cancelled, but we've got ethnic cleansing concentration camps too

Adolf Eichmann began his Nazi career as the head of the Central Agency for Jewish Emigration at the security agency charged with protecting the Reich. Joseph Brunner, the father of Mossad chief David Barnea, was three years old when he fled Nazi Germany with his parents, before the evacuation plan was implemented.

Last week, Barnea, the grandson, visited Washington in order to discuss the "evacuation" of the Gaza Strip's population. Barak Ravid reported on Channel 12 News that Barnea told his interlocutors that Israel has already begun talks with three countries on this issue, and the irony of history hid its face in shame. A grandson of a refugee of ethnic cleansing in Germany discusses ethnic cleansing, and no memory comes to mind.

In order to "evacuate" two million people from their country, you need a plan. Israel has been working on one. The first stage involves transferring much of the population into a concentration camp in order to facilitate an efficient deportation.

Last week, the BBC published an investigative report based on satellite photos, showing systematic destruction carried out by the IDF across the Gaza Strip. Village after village is being wiped off the face of the earth, which is being flattened for the sake of constructing the concentration camp, so that life in Gaza will no longer be possible.

Preparations for the first Israeli concentration camp are in full swing. Systematic destruction is proceeding throughout the enclave so that there is nowhere to return to other than the concentration camp.

In order to carry out this work, bulldozers are required. The BBC presented two wanted ads. One described "a project involving the demolition of buildings in Gaza requires (40-ton) bulldozer operators. The job includes payment of 1,200 shekels ($357) a day, including food and lodging, with an option of obtaining a private vehicle." The second ad said that "work hours are Sunday to Thursday, from 7 A.M. to 4:45 P.M., with excellent working conditions."

Israel is quietly perpetrating a crime against humanity. Not a house here and a house there, no "operational necessities," but a systematic elimination of any chance of life there, while preparing the infrastructure for concentrating people in a "humanitarian" city intended to be a transit camp – before deportation to Libya, Ethiopia and Indonesia, the destinations Barnea specified, according to Channel 12.

That is the plan for the ethnic cleansing of Gaza. Someone conceived it, there were discussions of pros and cons, alternatives were suggested, options of total cleansing vs. stages, and all done in air-conditioned conference rooms with minutes taken and decisions made. For the first time since the war of revenge in Gaza began, it's clear that Israel has a plan – and it's a far-reaching one.

This is no longer a rolling war. One can no longer accuse Benjamin Netanyahu of waging a war with no purpose. There is a purpose to this war, and it's a criminal one. One can no longer tell army commanders that their troops are dying for no reason: They are dying in a war of ethnic cleansing.

Egypt has rejected a quid pro quo offered by the US that would see it mediate an end to the crisis over Ethiopia’s Nile dam in return for Cairo allowing Israel to displace Gaza’s population into Rafah, high-level Egyptian diplomatic sources told Al Araby Al Jadeed, the Arabic-language sister site of The New Arab.

One Egyptian diplomat told the news outlet that the Trump administration had offered what one senior US official called a "decisive intervention" to solve the dispute over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).

In return, Egypt would need to back Israel’s plan to confine millions of Palestinians in a concentration camp close to the Rafah border.

Israel’s defence minister earlier this month announced plans to erect a “humanitarian city” on the ruins of Rafah into which the entire Palestinian population will eventually be concentrated.

    Doctors fainting from hunger

Doctors and medical staff in Gaza say their increasing hunger and the lack of available food is beginning to leave them too weak to provide urgent medical care to patients inside hospitals full of malnourished and injured civilians.

Almost a dozen medical staff across the territory have told the Guardian and the Arabic Reporters for Investigative Journalism (ARIJ) of their increasingly desperate search for food and declining physical health due to hunger.

“They are in a state of extreme exhaustion. Some have fainted in the operating rooms,” said Dr Mohammed Abu Selmia, the director of al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City, who said that like the people of Gaza, staff had not received any aid or had any meals in the past 48 hours.

“Medical services will be affected because our staff will not be able to hold out any longer in the face of this famine,” he added.

Many of the doctors and medical prac ioners who sent messages to the Guardian did not want to be named as they feared being targeted by the Israeli military.
“Today I have been on a 24-hour shift,” said one physician at al-Shifa hospital. “At [the hospital] they are supposed to give us some rice for each shift, but today they told us there was none. My colleague and I [treated] 60 neurosurgery patients and right now I can’t even stand.”

Another general prac ioner volunteering at al-Shifa hospital said: “I haven’t had anything to eat since yesterday and my family has nothing to eat. All day, I am thinking how can I get them flour or lentils or anything to eat [but] here’s nothing in the markets. We are no longer able to walk. We don’t know what to do.”
One surgeon at Nasser medical complex in Gaza said that the workload facing overstretched medical staff was increasing as more patients were being admitted for symptoms related to malnourishment.

“There are a high number of patients suffering from gastroenteritis, fainting and low blood sugar across all age groups of patients coming into the hospital,” he said. There is also a noticeable increase in post-surgical complications after operations due to malnutrition.

“I couldn’t eat for two days because I feared worsening my own gastroenteritis, and because of my low blood pressure I had to stop during a surgery on a girl who had been shot in the abdomen,” he said.

    there goes another talking point

The military officials who spoke to The New York Times said that the original U.N. aid operation was relatively reliable and less vulnerable to Hamas interference than the operations of many of the other groups bringing aid into Gaza. That’s largely because the United Nations managed its own supply chain and handled distribution directly inside Gaza.

Hamas did steal from some of the smaller organizations that donated aid, as those groups were not always on the ground to oversee distribution, according to the senior Israeli officials and others involved in the matter. But, they say, there was no evidence that Hamas regularly stole from the United Nations, which provided the largest chunk of the aid.

A Hamas representative did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

An internal U.S. government analysis came to similar conclusion, Reuters reported on Friday. It found no evidence of systematic Hamas theft of U.S.-funded humanitarian supplies, the report said.
