Have confirmed through U of L that Texas has not asked for permission to interview Charlie Strong.

Like I said, all these news outlets are just tossing on the wall to see if something sticks, I'll wait for a real announcement.

kbohls @kbohls
I'm told Patterson's interview with Charlie Strong went "very well."
kbohls @kbohls
Texas source says Patterson flew to Louisville, met with Charlie Strong for at least four hours; will interview others.

Texas source says Louisville's Charlie Strong has reached out to Longhorn staff to do homework, perhaps lay groundwork for new job. #perhaps
This is good news.
Briles please. I still think he could hit the ground running a lot better than the other realistic choices. HS kids want to play his system and coaches love him.
Why? it's not our money being spent, its the pocket change of billionaires.
I wonder how that works. Do the big pockets just make a check out to the other university themselves? Do they get Texas to pay the fee and then do a donation to Texas as a reimbursement? Or do they cut a check to the coach himself so then it looks like the coach is buying out his contract? I would think the latter would be the cleanest way to go, it minimizes the chance for litigation I would think.
i'll tattoo briles' face on my ass if he becomes head coach
Yeah. Gimmick coaches shouldn't be hired by big time programs who can recruit monster talent.
Shaw or Dantonio should be the top candidates.
briles isn't a gimmick coach. he just knows how to utilize his personnel. plus hiring him will close in the recruiting advantage that baylor has right now.
Just come out and say you want Mack back, DMX.
Look at the name that hasn't been mentioned in all the misinformation.
Saban .... LOL!
There are rumors out there that former USC and Ole Miss coach Ed Orgeron has been in contact with Texas lately. Not sure where it comes from, OrangeBloods or InsideTexas, or what position he would take. DC or DL?
He's a killer recruiter. This would have to mean our head guy is in place, right?
The rumor was sent to Inside Texas this morning and it would be for a non-head coaching position.
If it's true, makes you wonder who sent him. And I agree with Peabody that this would mean Texas has their guy.
According to Barking Carnival, Major Applewhite has resigned:
