While I would generally agree, most of us have read the you post.
I love Giles, I think he is a great coach, but I don't think he is a great recruiter. I don't know why, I see him as a great guy that really cares about his players, but he always seems to need help in recruiting. You do realize we almost lost Coburn, we had to make Carrington a coach so he could go on recruiting trips with Giles. We've also had to send Beck and Washington with him on recruiting trips. I don't want to bash Giles, I love him as a coach, but he isn't perfect and a little help with recruiting isn't a bad thing.
While I would generally agree, most of us have read the you post.
My thought exactly folks getting a little carried away. He wont be apart of this class let him be an issue of someone else’s.
Let's not do any of that, please, and just stick to team stuff and running updates.
Deleted all of it.
Apologies if I over stepped. I just expressed my opinion based off of what I read. I admit that it isn't something that one should speculate on. Also, I didn't say that because he isn't going to be a Longhorn, only that it was an impression based on the article.
In other news.. Thompson is back on campus.

IT Recruiting notes
LV Bunkley-Shelton:
Only taking OV’s from now on. UT, UW, AzSt, USC, UM are favs. RRR game is his preferred game to OV. Really high on UT.
Bijan:
Still scheduled to announce Fri but they wouldn’t be surprised if he pushes it back. Texas/USC battle. UT feels more confident than USC. It’s almost like starting all over with his recruitment. “Whole new ballgame.” There was a UT target at USC with Bijan when he OV’d there. That target (unnamed) said he felt like Bijan was headed to UT based on conversations with him. (That target is prob CTJr. or maybe Ty Jordan if I had to guess. You could prob look up visit dates and determine but lazy and don’t think this counts for much bc he silent committed to tOSU after this target told IT that quote.) Texas would have to top USC for both Jordan and Bijan.
Edit: Surly says the “target” with him was Lindberg.
Random notes:
Camar Wheaton and Xavion Alford both made stops on campus this weekend. IT feels like Texas leads for Wheaton. Losing Samples doesn’t help our chances with Camar but doesn’t hurt them. Texas is still pushing for Alford. 3 commitments set for this week; Thompson Jr., Bijan Robinson, Billy Bowman. “Should be a fun week”
Alfred Collins:
Still saying he will take all 5 visits. (Texas, A&M, LSU, ou, Bama). Said he’s still open and doesn’t have a fav right now. Wants to visit other places and see how he fits. Said that the staff told Collins there was only 1 available spot left on the d-line and Broughton is in his ear recruiting for UT.
Quentin Johnston:
Won the dunk contest at the camp. Favorites of UT, Baylor, TCU, and OU. Seen all of them except OU and been to UT 3 times. Family wants him close to home. Mentioned that he liked Milroe along with our 2020 QB commits. Said he will make a decision “very soon” meaning the end of the summer.
Johnny Wilson just committed to UO
Mehringer fails again...
Kidding 88. Chill. Lol.

Inside Texas said today they expect Derek Kerstetter to ultimately beat out Denzel Okafor for the starting RT job.
Thank you for keeping this on track... For a moment there it became exactly what this thread was praised for not being just last week.
Keep on keeping on or as you were or any other appropriate phraseology.
Gabe Brooks just CB’d Bowman to UT.
Adding Bowman this Wednesday would put UT in the #2 spot in team rankings for 2021 with a recruit average of .9221.
If we land CTJr. and Bijan this week we would move to #11 in 2020 team rankings. #1 in Big XII.
Kendall Milton is making his announcement live tonight at 7:00 for anybody interested. Link to live broadcast below:

I hear you.
Valid points.
But a prodigy like this needs to understand he will affect his team and teammates. He might have gotten one of his friends into Bama who might never see the field. Was that a good or bad thing, I don’t know. A mature way to play the game is to use the University as I described if you don’t love the game. But others need to be aware of your intentions, because a responsiblilty falls on you that you might not want. Tell your friends and teammates not to rely on you in this game of recruiting and then on the field. Give them some sort of straight dope. He was born with a gift that unfortunately requires more of him if he wants to teach recruiters and recruiting a lesson. He is not the first. Get into school, and use the time wisely.
Realistically this is one article and we have no idea how descriptive it is of this kid. But if it is accurate, as of right now, he does not fit the Texas culture Tom Herman has described. He also never had a dad and his grandad passed away at a crucial juncture for decisions. Maybe he understands Herman and Ehlinger both had somewhat the same cir stances yet love the game. Probably not. And I don’t think any adult truly loves the recruiting process unless they absolutely don’t give a damn about kids.
I can’t see Herman kissing this kid before games unless there is some understanding concerning teammates.
And that’s fine. This sport is best for people who have united goals. He’s got time to figure it out.
With popularity comes great responsibility my son.
Sorry, back on topic. We are in a semi euphoric period.
Edit
*sorry I skipped posts when I got on therefore had no knowledge of deletions and what they concerned. Did not mean to be flippant*

I know it’s early, not that it’s an excuse, but LOL at 247 sports ranking Bowman as the 254th player in the 2021 class. He plays like Earl Thomas...then again, Earl was ranked 336th in his class. Some of these evaluations by the services is absurd and borderline criminal.
imho, the current trend is all about the measurables and not too much on the game film. i think the real challenge in recruiting is finding the three star gems, of which there are plenty.
probably better off for it. also, i read your post and appreciate the clarification. and now, back to the regular scheduled programming.
You are causing me to change all my generalizations concerning Aggies.
Dont do that, I like it simple.
