I personally do not like Ohio State.
But I did love how they chanted "SEC, SEC, SEC" as the Tennessee fans drifted out before the game was over.
Im not a fan of a conference myself. Its weird.
I think Texas missed an opportunity to help make a really strong and mostly logical PAC12 if they had to leave their cushy perch in the BIGXII.

The Pac 12 needed Texas way more than the other way around. And I'm not sure big TV was thrilled with the idea of Texas going west. The bigger TV money goes east

Exactly, but it could've worked. Would sure beat the weird hillbilly collectivism of the SEC.

Yeah lol in that sense, but they got Aggie and Arky back as historical rivals and Disney couldn't be happier with the Saturday matchups. Other than Texas/USC, maybe Oregon, not sure what matchups in the Pac would make Disney execs drool the same way they do now.

I'm also not sure why Texas felt the need to sneak out the back in the middle of the night to the SEC. Why not take a few years and explore options..... including being independent like Notre Dame.

Imo because UT would attract better players. Colin Simmons said very clearly he would have never chosen UT if they were not in the SEC.
These kids want to get to the pros, and the SEC was/is the perceived training ground. Then with NIL opening, the cash floodgate for players and a perfect storm for a school like UT. Notre Dame is a truly national brand imo and UT has always been associated with a conference. Longhorn network had to add doubts about a National following.
I think the move, along with Sarkisian, has produced the deepest most thoroughly rounded team UT since the days when UT used to give scholarships to get good players sitting on their bench and not playing for other teams in the SWC. At least this is what I am told by old grads who know how UT gained an advantage with “unlimited” scholarships. And even with all these advantages a NC is still doubtful. The portal actually may have produced more parity via QBs if good portal teams can avoid injuries and have a very good “1st string”.

I think the recruiting was a small factor. Texas already had top 5/10 classes year in year out. It's all about TV money.

SEC offers money, stability, great rivalries and matchups.

I also wouldn't underestimate the importance of the more compact geography of the SEC too. Travel schedule would be especially brutal for the non-football sports if they were playing in the PAC-12. Not sure they could earn as much there either since SEC games draw higher TV ratings. Georgia had the highest ratings for its games of any team this season including Texas.

    check this out.
I don’t know where this over rating comes from?
Maybe you are thinking in the Big 12?

    https://longhornswire.usatoday.com/l...eve-sarkisian/

    Look at this from 2005

    https://public.tableau.com/app/profi...ear/Dashboard1

Look at the years UT is out of the top 25. It’s gotta be shocking to some big 12 fans who did not recruit so well themselves besides OU.
Its just not year in and year out.
