Y'know, the swimsuit issue just isn't the same anymore. It's like 900 pages, 80% of which are ads with perfumed pages. I go through it out of tradition, but the impact from the Cheryl Tiegs/Christie Brinkley/Elle days isn't there. Somethign about Kathy Ireland always irked me... liek she jsut wasn't that hot. Not swimsuit edition hot.... which was proved years later by her "wonderful" line of clothign at wallyworld.
BUt ITA with S y - Elle was awsome. She's on a level that can not be reached by mere mortals. She made crappy, cheesy swimsuits look good.

The thing about Kathy Ireland is that she managed to keep her name out there by slapping her name on everything. My husband bought an executive type desk for his office from Star Furniture. It's well made with the dove tail drawers and all. He didn't even notice that her name was on it until he was paying.
